This fashion design made by Fharadiva. This fashion design is themed with modern West Javanese culture. In this design, I took the Sumedang Ganasan batik motif. The red and white colors that I poured into this fashion illustration are a depiction of the colors of the Indonesian flag. Which means Indonesia with its cultural richness, one of which is West Javanese culture. It turns out that Indonesian cultural values can be made more modern and contemporary. We as Indonesian citizens must continue to preserve Indonesian culture. One way is to use Indonesian batik.

I’m happy to announce that my first article, "Second-Hand Clothing Shopping in Azerbaijan," has been published by Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction! In this paper, I investigated the key factors influencing Azerbaijani consumers’ attitudes towards second-hand clothing. The study identifies four primary areas of concern: 1. Social Concerns 2. Sanitary Concerns 3. Performance Concerns 4. Financial Concerns The analysis reveals that while awareness of second-hand clothing is growing, Azerbaijani consumers still prefer new products, mainly due to concerns about sanitary. I appreciate the support from everyone who contributed to this research, especially my supervisor - Asst.Prof. Çağla TUĞBERK ARIKER. I look forward to engaging discussions and your feedback on this topic! Feel free to read the full article here : https://lnkd.in/efG9vrGp #Secondhand #Sustainability #Azerbaijan

The Resurgence of Localism in Fashion: Celebrating Traditions and Folklore Through Storytelling At the 26th IFFTI Annual Conference held at Ewha Womans University, Shashiprabha Thilakarathne, Sumith Gopura, PhD, Alice Payne, and Dr. AYESHA WICKRAMASINGHE presented a thought-provoking paper exploring how localism, intertwined with storytelling, is shaping contemporary fashion. By focusing on Kuweni, a legendary figure from Sri Lanka, the authors demonstrate how fashion can preserve and revitalize cultural heritage. The paper highlights how traditional crafts like handloom weaving, jewelry-making, and pottery can find renewed relevance by embodying cultural narratives. Using Practice-Led Research (PLR), designers can create emotionally resonant products that transcend aesthetic value, preserving intangible heritage. This approach fosters deeper connections between fashion, culture, and consumers while combating psychological obsolescence. It is an absolute pleasure and privilege to be a country judge — representing Botswana🇧🇼and to make a panel of distinguished global design and innovation leaders: Lyssa King🇨🇦, Hunadi Baloyi 🇿🇦, Thabile Moipolai🇧🇼, Richard S.🇿🇦, Brent Eiseb🇳🇦, Luis Munana 🇳🇦— led by Head Judge Celine Assimon: Chief Executive of the De Beers Group Jewellers, at the ongoing 2024 De Beers Group Shining Light Awards. The key objective of this #DesignInnovation’ Promotion programme is to drive the global design development agenda: to increase awareness and to promote the adoption of design innovation as a competitive strategy at national government levels. In essence, design by its nature plays a vital role in linking creativity to innovation (Sir #isaaccox: The Cox Review of Creativity in Business, 2005); In new product development (#NPD), design is the development and introduction of new #approaches, #newwaysofthinking, new #products, #services and #processes (Gisele Raulik Murphy, 2024; Beatrice Villari, 2014; Stefano Maffei, 2014; Anna Whicher, 2014; McKinsey Design, 2024). As such, the De Beers Group Shining Light Awards entails applying strategic design to facilitate manufacturing: the development of consumer products and services: luxury goods — jewellery and watches, and the development, establishment and communications of jewellery brands and luxury retail enterprises. The programme further aims to leverage design innovation for value addition to natural diamonds💎, by stimulating the adoption of design within the De Beers Group producer countries: Botswana🇧🇼, Canada 🇨🇦, South Africa 🇿🇦, and Namibia🇳🇦 — and to make design more accessible to SMEs who may not have internal design capabilities. All to enhance industrial development and drive global competitiveness within the De Beers Group producer countries — by transforming each nation’s design capacities. Many thanks, De Beers Botswana for making Nako Timepieces a part of such a great Initiative.
