Do we need more screens at home? Soon our furniture can become interactive if the concept of Nippon TV Co-Creation Labs comes to life. I experienced a new demo recently at SXSW in Austin. As they say, if people use robots for house routine tasks, they no longer need to talk to each other. Hence, new screens and interfaces are required to give a space for next-gen communication. Chairs and sofas are equipped with durable LED lights and buttons so that people could use them as a communication tool. Presumably for a new generation of people it’s easier to draw an emoji than to talk to each other. Maybe I’m getting too old, but I still prefer talking over emojying, although sometimes I use Apple Vision Pro Spatial Persona to talk to my friends thousands of miles away. I guess such approach could be used for safety and guidance in emerging situations, as well as in therapy, providing a healing environment based on the level of stress and anxiety. It could also be used for connected smart home ecosystem – imagine your pillow signaling that it’s time to take out pizza from the oven… I hope people will find the right balance for tech adoption so that we don’t have to delegate too much to smart solutions, and hope we still will be talking to each other. #sxsw #innovation #smarthome #envision #LED #emergingtech #emerging #creative Matt Daly
