Attention #geotechnicalengineers, depending on #buildingcode requirements your lateral #pile capacity is affected by many considerations. For buildings, the allowable capacity is usually determined at a maximum permissible displacement (0.375 inches - 1 cm for most cases). If we model a pile as linearly elastic and push it at that level our calculations will overpredict lateral capacity but also produce larger bending moments on the piles. In such cases, we should consider nonlinear #reinforced #concrete behavior and possibly cyclic loading effects.
