This holiday season, First Climate is embracing the spirit of giving over gifting. 💚 Instead of sending corporate gifts, First Climate is proud to support Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado (AMLD) as part of our annual “Giving Over Gifting” campaign. Our 2024 Christmas donation will help protect the endangered golden lion tamarin and its home — the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest. 🌳 🐒 🌴 AMLD works tirelessly to restore rainforest habitats, create wildlife corridors, monitor invasive species, and run vaccination campaigns to protect these remarkable primates. Their efforts have already helped grow the wild tamarin population from just 200 in the 1970s to around 4,800 today. By supporting AMLD, we’re not just protecting wildlife — we’re contributing to local communities and global climate action. There are even #TemperateRainforests right here in the UK! 🍄 Dripping with moisture from more than 200 days of rainfall a year and shrouded in mists and lush green foliage, Britain's rainforests are perfect for scarce bryophytes, lichens and fungi as well as a host of wildlife species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. 🌍 Temperate Rainforests can be found along the UK's western seaboard, in places such as the West coast of Scotland, Cornwall, Cumbria and parts of Northern Ireland. 💚 At Lakeland, we’re proud to support the Woodland Trust who care for rare temperate rainforests nationwide. To my fellow professionals - if you saw the below table in your organisation, and the number of red flags (lack of green) would you feel pressure to address this? This may be a government report, but its goals impact us all. When I see these reports, it can often feel like we've been swimming against the tide, that change is impossible and efforts are futile. But I know that this is important, that limited resources need protecting and that there are scores of people taking action for nature across the country, including dedicated government officers. I am proud to work for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and be contributing to the difference we can all make. Change doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen. Every step we can make is a step closer to our shared vision. Please if you do one thing today, make a difference by investing in nature and asking the UK Government, MPs, Local Authorities and anyone you know, to join you.
