Great win today debunking outdated patient-practitioner perceptions. Half way through an initial consult today, the patient looked as though they were preparing to receive manual therapy (my opinion this is just conditioning from all the other clinics she visited prior). I paused and explained to her that she is moderately functional, and the next best step would be to further examine her and gain more intel in relation to her LSI (limb symmetry index) so that our roadmap can be more clear and focused; as opposed to "hands on" treatment. - Post session feedback "no one's assessed me to this detail before, wow". - Lesson: Not everyone just wants manual therapy, educate our patients and let them make the (informed) decision. Physio's need to demand more value on our profession, we are not day spa's 😅

Criterion-referenced cut scores often focus on minimal competence rather than excellence. My latest preprint proposes a mastery-oriented cut-scoring method using contrasting groups and cognitive diagnosis. Preliminary results suggest that the proposed method has the potential for positive educational outcomes and better patient safety in programmatic assessment settings and high-stakes licensing examinations. In this Feature Friday, we show how to instantly create a Patient Visit and Invoice when a patient arrives. Importantly, you can activate this feature and set your preferences on a per appointment type basis. This means that when you click Arrive in schedule, if you wish, a visit and invoice can be created automatically for one appointment type, but not for another (e.g. hearing aid check vs hearing aid fitting). Even better, any discounts can be automatically applied (e.g. patient's device is covered under a service/maintenance plan and receives no charge cleanings) with no additional effort or doublechecking.
