I have learned, that if a diver is going to panic, it is almost always going to be the diver farthest from a profesional, with a very protective spouse that will almost certainly get in the way of assisting them.
And also, teenage siblings frequently confuse highly dangerous behavior as harmless pranks. No, do not dump your brother's weights at 21 meters
Excellent tips from DAN Europe! I recommend that divers practice deploying the DSMB at the end of every dive until they become proficient in this essential skill.

We are very optimistic about the introduce our new eLearning course on Firefighting Fundamentals. This course is designed to provide essential foundational knowledge to firefighters worldwide. While we firmly believe in the value of face-to-face training in realistic conditions, we also recognize its limitations. This program is not intended to replace hands-on training but to complement it by providing a robust theoretical foundation at an affordable price.
As part of our commitment to global outreach, we have already granted free access to this vital training to over 25,000 firefighters in developing nations. We commend the Chief Officers in these countries for embracing this crucial core training.
For firefighters in developed nations, this course offers cost-effective training that will enhance both the safety and efficiency of their teams. We will be offering quarterly ‘Reading the Fire’ and ‘Hot Seat Challenges’. These initiatives are designed to maintain competency by enabling firefighters to analyze real incidents using the BE SAHF fire behavior indicator dynamic risk assessment method.
Our approach is pragmatic and flexible. We do not advocate for any dogmatic response philosophies. We understand that there are no “routine” actions, tools, or techniques that can replace the need for critical thinking under stress. Every tactical approach, tool, and technique has its strengths and weaknesses. We recognize that every context in which firefighters operate presents unique challenges and opportunities. We believe that if firefighters have a solid, open-minded foundation, they will be able to determine the best approach for their specific context. We invite you to join us in this journey of learning and growth.

A fire onboard a ship poses a serious threat to the safety of the crew, the vessel, and its cargo. Unlike fires on land, a ship’s crew cannot walk away or rely on external fire services. They must combat the fire with limited resources in challenging conditions at sea.
Therefore, the safety of both the vessel and its crew depends on effective fire prevention measures to avoid such incidents.

I design and develop engaging experiences to effectively meet your business goals and increase performance.
One of the resounding suggestions within the Department after the Hurricane Helene Response has been...wait for it...Training. The topics range from setting up shelters to technology platforms to incident management to sensitivity.
There was also a very strong adverse reaction to the idea of "online" training. They want in-person training. I believe the reason is two-fold: personal preferences and lack of tech skills. The reality is providing ILT is difficult as trainees live in different locations with different job positions with different amounts of flexibility, plus there is a very limited availability of trainers.
As I plan to incorporate these suggestions in 2025, I'm curious:
How would you go about deciding which topics are strictly eLearning and which have an ILT option offered annually?
