The future of the PLL and lacrosse as a whole is very bright! Why because of its LEADERSHIP. What Paul Rabil and his brother Mike have done building the PLL from the ground up in a few short years is putting the sports/business world on notice. Where I believe their leadership has exceled, is their agility (which he even mentions in one of the clips) and taking creative risks to think differently and draw attention to a non-traditional property, bringing it into the mainstream. As a fan of the sport, sure it's easy for me to watch/engage. But its also a fascinating case study in business startups, marketing, leadership for any business leader! #leadership #lacrosse #professionalsports #premierlacrosseleague
Paul Rabil isn’t the first person to try and start a league from scratch in the modern era — but he’s the first to do it this way.

"When you put #money, attention, and #intention to creating a more equitable environment, people will shine... #InvestinWomen. We are beyond capable of achieving at the same level as men, but we can't do it without equitable access to the resources we need to perform and do our jobs well." Sarah Brock post: https://lnkd.in/e7e_X4-V "Bravo Doris Burke! In a time where we are witnessing and celebrating tremendous #growth in women’s #sports, it was great to see an absolute legend get the accolades that she is due. Doris has kicked down doors throughout her #career and has never lost her humble demeanor and thoughtful approach to calling a game.., I will never forget Doris' willingness to share her #insights and take the time to be real, to be authentic in a #business that undoubtedly hasn’t always give her that same grace. So, as I channel my inner Lizzo, there is only one thing to say, it’s 'About Damn Time!'" Ramsey Baker repost of this post: https://lnkd.in/eim37xvW “Anyone who is authentically working in women’s sports genuinely understands that #representation matters, both ethically and economically." Anthony Baldini repost: https://lnkd.in/eKriaqKj "Being clear on where you stand regardless of setting is key. To truly align with targeted and oppressed communities is to be in the fire with them." “I called my first tonight, it’s meaningless in the grand scheme of things. What she did is historic.” JJ Redick takes a moment to recognize Doris Burke—who became the first woman to call any major U.S. men’s championship on TV last night.

It always difficult to know what is an appropriate forum to call things out on is - but here goes: - If ever a press release went down like a lead balloon - it was this one from Aston Villa. For all the successes and excitement on the pitch, this couldn't have alienated an intensely passion and loyal fan base any further. Being 'Out of touch' and demonstrating a complete disconnect between the people and the place it represents is an understatement. We all understand the modern realities of sports finance but this is nothing more than exploiting loyal fans (customers). It’s a further demonstration that customer/consumer rights and protections are pretty non-existent in the UK - whether that be energy, water, dynamic pricing for gigs/concerts etc. As one of those very lucky people who follows the Club up and down the country most weeks, and across Europe, through the dark times and the good times, I feel a sense of sadness and disappointment. This year should have been a celebration of a 150-year-old institution that has a proud place in Birmingham, the region and across the world. But there is still plenty of time to listen to the fans (customers) and correct this gross error of judgement. So over to you Aston Villa Football Club:

When North Carolina State tipped off in the ACC tournament three weeks ago, the Wolfpack had a 17-14 record and an infinitesimal chance of making the NCAA tournament. But they ripped off five wins in five days to steal an automatic berth to March Madness. Then they went on a wild run even by the standards of an event known for insanity. Now they’re easily the most improbable Final Four team of the past decade. What were the odds of the Wolfpack getting this far? To find out, you can take the win probabilities for each of the past four games from the college-basketball statistical website kenpom.com, then multiply those percentages to quantify the rough likelihood of a Final Four run. N.C. State was a 1-in-88 long shot. But even that number doesn’t accurately convey how unexpected this Final Four romp has been. That’s because the Wolfpack really had to survive and advance nine times. The chance of that happening wasn’t 1 in 88. It was more like 1 in 23,512. To put that .004% probability in context, the National Weather Service says you’re more likely to get struck by lightning during your lifetime. How can you not love underdogs & March Madness! #statistics #marchmadness #underdogs https://lnkd.in/eYYfjg3E
This Final Four Team Isn’t a Long Shot. It’s a 23,512-to-1 Miracle.
