As part of our mission to bring free and low-cost resources to engineering students, we put together a set of practice problems for second-year dynamics courses that cover rigid body dynamics: - Kinematics - Kinetics - Work and Energy - Impulse and Momentum We work with a lot of students in UVic MECH 242 Dynamics and find that they benefit by having extra problems with full solutions. Another challenge we run into is that often students have access to problems with solutions, but they don't understand the reason why those steps were taken. We make sure to show all the steps and add notes to our solutions to explain the thought process behind the steps. Simulation in welding training. Not unlike more established simulation domains like aviation, the benefits are real. As in any technical, hands on domain, the ratio of simulation to ‘live’ needs to be right, but we are working on that.

Welding simulators are revolutionizing learning, offering a hands-on, risk-free way to master welding skills! The simulators were used in three of CWB Foundation’s Women of Steel: Forging Forward (WOSFF) programs hosted in partnership with Fanshawe College at their St. Thomas, Oxford and Woodstock campuses in Ontario.
