🗯️ Starting Your New Year’s Resolutions in December Builds Legacy and Community Leadership While many wait for January 1 to start fresh, beginning your resolutions in December can lay the groundwork for success and strengthen your role as a community leader. Resolutions that focus on both personal growth and community impact are not just about achieving goals—they’re about building connections and inspiring change. Here’s why starting early matters: ✅ Lead by Example: December offers an opportunity to show leadership by initiating meaningful actions now, inspiring others to follow suit. ✅ Foster Community Impact: Resolutions grounded in service and collaboration have the power to unite people. For example, our Girl Scouts are continuing their journey in community leadership by working to ensure the pet supply donations from Kindness Week reach area rescues and families in need. Their efforts remind us that leadership is about service and connection. ✅ Focus on Legacy Over Goals: Goals are stepping stones, but a legacy is built through sustained, intentional action. Starting early helps align your resolutions with long-term community-building efforts. ✅ Inspire Collective Progress: Resolutions are more impactful when shared. Engaging with others to start now strengthens accountability, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose. As one expert said: “Setting short-term goals and starting small allows us to feel successful early on” (Good Morning America). By starting now, you build momentum and model the kind of leadership and kindness our communities need. 💡 What leadership-focused resolutions will you begin this December? #NewYearsResolutions #CommunityLeadership #LegacyGoals #KindnessMatters #GirlScoutsLeadership #KindnessWeekWorldwide Photo courtesy of one of our Brownies!

At a Building Community Philanthropy Convening, we brought together Karri Matau and Nashika Stanbro (COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SNOHOMISH COUNTY), Ron White (Humboldt Area Community Foundation), and Katie Carter (Pride Foundation) to discuss advancing racial equity within community foundations. From this conversation, we identified four key practices: 🔹 Building an aligned board 🔹 Transforming organizational culture 🔹 Embracing disruption and courageous leadership 🔹 Redefining "community" and shifting accountability 📖 Dive into this blog from our Associate Director of Programs, Mares Asfaha, to explore these practices and learn how community foundations can create lasting impact: https://ow.ly/vye050UljZv

Yesterday, myself and some members of our IDM Companies SW Team went to St. Mary’s Food Bank to volunteer. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference. Whether it’s mentoring, organizing a local event, or simply giving your time to a cause you believe in, every small act of kindness creates a ripple effect. This season, I challenged myself—and encourage others—to step outside our routines and lend a hand where it’s needed most. Let’s be leaders in both action and compassion. Giving back doesn’t just impact others—it shapes us into better versions of ourselves. #Leadership #Volunteering #GivingBack

🌟 Service as a Manifestation of Love 🌟 "One of the purest forms of love is service freely given without expectation of reward." Service isn't just an action; it's a testament to our character and compassion. When we give selflessly, expecting nothing in return, we're engaging in one of the highest forms of love. This kind of service strengthens our communities and enriches our own lives, reinforcing the idea that true fulfillment comes from what we give, not just what we receive. This week, I challenge you to find ways to serve those around you without looking for recognition. Whether it's mentoring a young professional, volunteering in your community, or supporting a friend, let your actions speak of love and dedication. 🔗 How does giving back make you feel? Share your experiences with service and its impact on your life and those around you. #LeadershipInService #GenuineLove #DrBradMD #ImpactThroughAction

The true measure of a person isn't just by what they accumulate, but by what they give back. Whether it’s our time, resources, or simply a kind word, giving has the power to transform lives – including our own. When we give, we create ripples of good vibes that extend far beyond the initial act. We build stronger communities, foster deeper connections, and cultivate a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Giving isn’t just about what we offer to others; it’s about the growth and joy we experience in return. Whether it’s mentoring a colleague, volunteering for a cause, or simply being there for someone in need, every act of giving counts. #GivingBack #Generosity #Community #Leadership

On this Giving Tuesday, I’m reflecting on the idea of giving—not just to charities, but to the people we work with every day. Leadership is about giving employees what they need to thrive: trust, compassion, and the resources to succeed. It’s about creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to bring their best selves to work. In my career, I’ve seen how leading with compassion and prioritizing people can transform not just the work we do but the culture we build together. Giving is about more than financial contributions—it’s about showing up for each other in meaningful ways, every day. Let’s remember that the spirit of Giving Tuesday doesn’t have to stop at our personal lives. It can extend to our workplaces, too. #GivingTuesday #Leadership #CompassionateLeadership #PeopleFirst #WorkplaceCulture #Teamwork #EmployeeEngagement

As we enter the holiday season, it’s important to remember that not everyone experiences this time as joyful. For many, financial strain, loneliness, or personal challenges can make this season especially difficult. The pressure to meet societal expectations – like gift giving, or hosting – can feel overwhelming, while others may grapple with grief or isolation. As we see in our own community, food bank usage and homelessness are both on the rise and are just a couple of the many reasons why we feel it is important to give back. This season offers an opportunity to show empathy and kindness, reminding us that the true spirit of the holidays lies in the compassion and community. Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages generosity and charitable giving. It takes place annually on the Tuesday after American Thanksgiving, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Established in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, it aims to shift the focus from consumerism to altruism during the holiday season. Organizations and individuals participate by donating to causes they care about, volunteering, or raising awareness for nonprofit initiatives. Social media plays a significant role, with hashtags like #GivingTuesday used to amplify the movement’s reach. The day has grown into an international event, inspiring generosity worldwide. Please visit the link below to find out more about the initiative and to discover ways you can get involved. Happy holidays! https://lnkd.in/eAUqA2cD
