In between Van Life videos (one day I'd like to spend a few months - or more - as a digital nomad); videos of people Building and Renovating (my fantasy self is really very handy); and far too many shorts; I watch A LOT of productivity videos on YouTube. Actually, to be fair, I tend to 'listen' to most YouTube videos, while occassionally looking up from some puzzle I'm working on, or some low brain-power project like tidying my office. Regardless, a fair bit of my YouTube activities are dedicated to 'productivity' content, including many of the videos from Ali Abdaal. I'm also constantly trying to 'read more' a task that has been challenging for me for the last few years since I slipped a couple of discs in my back (the softer the surface the shorter amount of time I should sit there) as I can't sit in a cozy spot for too long and who wants to read in a non-cozy spot? There's a lot here I want to embrace - I almost didn't make my goal of reading 25 books in 2018 (the last year I set a reading goal), because I got hung up for almost two months on a book that was an absolute slog; as a result tip 2 'Quit Books' really speaks to me. The tip I really want to focus your attention on however, tip 3 'Always Buy the Book'; which in a nutshell tells us that if you see/hear/receive unsolicited a recommendation for a book you should read, you should immediately (if possible) buy the book. That way you'll have a range of reading options to suit 'how you feel' when you got to pick up a new read from your collection. In this spirt, and with the holidays upon us, I am shamelessly recommending my book: 'The Tuesday Thoughts Companion: A Year of Small Actions for Big Impact' for the aspiring impact maker on your list. Buy the book (on amazon): https://lnkd.in/g5Fe_WFD Special thanks to Caroline Brookfield whose post earlier this week inspired me to think about suggesting my book as a great gift. Maybe you even buy her book too: https://lnkd.in/gu_vvhaw

1yI'm so glad I gave you inspiration! Love this! And yes, I can definitely relate to the unrelenting slog of finishing a book because you started it. No more!!! One of my life hacks as a person with a kobo is to keep an eye out on BookBub or whatever it is. It sends me emails a few times a week to tell me which books are on sale. I often choose a few of the "under $5" options so I always have a book to read!
