⏰ Early start and back to Zürich Airport! 🛫 Some disturbances grounded me here last night, but I'm looking back to yesterday's amazing Generative AI hackathon with a smile 😊. ☕ The participants were very engaged and built impressive PoCs in no time. My favorite feedback was: "It's amazingly easy to create an 80% solution in almost no time", "Based on the learning I built a 2nd use case in just 10 more minutes and got amazing results", and "It's not just the Generative AI models, but the platform that allowed me to build RAG-based solutions so easily". 🙌 ⛑ We also looked into how to productionize GenAI applications and the importance of well-crafted test cases for moving into and maintaining production - just like in the good old software engineering days. 🤩 We started with the basics and didn't talk about meta prompting - using LLMs to generate high-quality, reliable prompts for LLMs. Very fascinating and powerful! 🚀 Shout out to my colleague Dennis Traub for his recent write-up on this topic: See comment below. 🎉 Happy customers, happy Stefan and team! Wednesday news: 600+ registrations, Application for judges is closed, one week left We’re super excited to share that in just a few days, over 600 people have applied to join our hackathon! We’re now diving into reviewing all the applications. Quick reminder: our hackathon's main goal is to build a brand-new AI platform for developers. During the prototyping phase, the AI will handle the boring stuff, giving you more time to focus on the fun and interesting work. Here’s what you can expect if you’re a participant: 1. Application: We’re checking all profiles and only selecting those with the right experience and skills. 2. Confirmation: You got an invitation email. Fill out the detailed form and invite your friends to join in. 3. Team: Form a team with your friends to compete for the winner’s title and make a splash in the community. 4. Workshop: Attend the opening ceremony and a workshop by the judges, where you’ll get your task, learn all the evaluation details, and chat with the judges. 5. Start: Work on your tasks, get advice from mentors, and unleash your creativity! 6. Deadline: Submit your projects and record a short video explaining how everything works and what it’s made of. 7. Review: Judges will select only those projects that meet the criteria for the showcase event. 8. Showcase Event: Present your solutions and answer questions from the judges. 9. Winner: Judges will pick the phase winner. All other teams will add new features to the winning project in the next phases. 10. I had an incredible time at the Cohere Build Day in London! 🎉 The Cohere team fantastically organised the event, and I was thrilled to meet Aidan Gomez and Nick Frosst, two of Cohere’s co-founders. Meeting them as a Community Ambassador and now a Data Science Annotator at Cohere was a bit surreal. Cohere has been a massive part of my journey over the past year and a half, and their mission to break down AI barriers and empower technology with language has genuinely inspired me. The company has grown into a global leader in AI for enterprises, but its core values remain unchanged. I’ve experienced so much personal and professional growth, and I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunities and leadership they provide. Exciting news – Edmond O'Driscoll and I were hackathon winners! 🏆 We created an app using the Cohere chat endpoint and Command R+ model that conducts web research and generates an interactive mind map of the content. It’s a fantastic tool for visual learners to explore vast amounts of text, allowing users to navigate headers and sections by clicking on nodes. Plus, we utilised the RAG feature to ensure responses are grounded in citations, making the information trustworthy and transparent. 👀Keep an eye out for our article, which will share the ease of building with Cohere's endpoints and how Databutton's conversational AI developer platform enabled us to build and deploy our application within three hours! #Cohere #Hackathon #AI #Developer #Innovation #ArtificialIntelligence
