Danube Private University Austria (DPU) - Collaboration with University Clinics in Lower Austria. Since 1st October 2024 Clinics in Wiener Neustadt, Neunkirchen, and Hochegg have become University Clinics, training the next generation of doctors in Lower Austria. This marks a significant milestone in advancing healthcare, education, and research in the region. Since the Autumn, these facilities have officially taken on the dual role of providing high-quality patient care while serving as centers for academic instruction and medical research in conjunction with the Danube Private University Austria (DPU). To strengthen this integration, the DPU has appointed doctors from these university hospitals to contribute to teaching activities beyond their clinical duties, ensuring a seamless connection between practical healthcare experience and academic education. This initiative fosters a collaborative environment where medical professionals can share their expertise with students in diverse settings. The awarding ceremony, recognizing these doctors' new roles, was held in Wiener Neustadt's historic old town hall. It was officiated by Mayor Mag. Klaus Schneeberger, alongside Director Robert Wagner, MA, Danube Private University Austria (DPU) and Health Agency of Lower Austria board member DI Alfred Zens, MBA and Prof. Dr. Ojan Assadian, Medical Director University Hospital Wiener Neustadt. This event underscores the collaborative effort to elevate medical education and healthcare services in Lower Austria. #universityclinic #wienerneustadt #neunkirchen #hochegg #landesgesundheitsagentur #niederösterreich #nö #healthcare #medicalstudies #medizinstudium #studyinaustria #forschung #research #danubeprivateuniversity Foto credits: Stadt Wiener Neustadt / Michael Weller

Fachärzte, University vs Private Institute debate: 🗣️ This is a conversation I'm having with a lot of new Fachärzte (specialists) 🖥️ 🖲️ University institutes often have the best facilities and equipment, including digital pathologie 📓 Conducting research can be an exciting necessity, with the opportunity to make important findings and create a long lasting legacy in the field 👩🏫 Teaching opportunities further down the line mean pathologists can make even more of a contribution to public health, and see the growth of their understudies ⌚ Whilst most contracts are 40 hours, in reality a lot of university physicians work 50, sometimes 60 hours a week 👨🏫 /🥼 With Germany’s increasing case load, a position which involves 50% research, 50% diagnostics often looks more like 10% research, 90% diagnostics 🍰 Of course learning opportunities are encouraged, but too often I see young fachärzte not dealing with the wide spectrum of cases that they want to 💻 📝 Whilst many universities have scanners and digital capabilities, often these are exclusively used for research purposes, rather than remote diagnostics What would you add to the list? Strap yourselves in, I’ll be breaking down the private institute tomorrow.

Exciting updates during the PANACEA Placebo and Nocebo Education partnership meeting in Leiden on May 29-30, hosted and organized by Andrea Evers and Stefanie Meeuwis from ULEI! This event focused on status updates and critical reviewing current developments concerning the PANACEA learning materials, WebApp, clinical guidelines, and Summer School. PANACEA aims to reduce the gap between the scientific evidence of placebo and nocebo effects and the clinical practice of the future and of today's healthcare professionals. The meeting started with a brief overview of the status of all the different aspects that are being developed, after which ULEI provided a progress update on the first version of the clinical guidelines and the systematic review. KU gave an in-depth evaluation of the development and progress of learning materials (modules), followed by RE2N showcasing these learning materials in the WebApp and all its features. During the second meeting, UCM Madrid and UNIBO discussed the program structure and evaluation methods for the Summer School, also giving an overview of the PANACEA days. All project developments were critically discussed and given worthy feedback to work towards an even better result. We look forward to continued collaboration and the exciting advancements to come at the PANACEA Summer School in Madrid this July. Fachärtze, Private vs University Institute? Why Private? 🔬 Research is not for everyone, some pathologists want to focus on pure diagnostics 🪽 After spending roughly 10 years in education, academic institutes CAN sometimes be a little "stale", it's great to be open to something new 💸 Money talks! Private institutes (generally) pay 20-30% more than university institutes However, the temptation for a young facharzt to earn more money is not always a good thing, everything institute is different. 🔢 Private institutes' focus on cases, cases and more cases; sometimes these are not in a very wide spectrum of pathology 🤹♂️ With less focus on teaching, and (sometimes) less cutting edge technology, young pathologists might miss out on the chance to pick up valuable techniques and experience 💻 Digital, remote working is less common than in the University; private institutes with digital capabilities make great options It all comes down to the institute, and how much information you have to make the decision! This is the part I can help you with.

SOCA officials had the privilege of engaging in a productive and insightful conversation with Prof. Helen, the newly elected President of IFAA. Our discussion encompassed a broad range of topics, including teaching methodologies, curriculum design, various courses, advancements in Anatomical Sciences education, infrastructure in medical Institutions, faculty-student ratios, Grants and research initiatives within India’s medical institutions. During our meeting, I proposed that IFAA consider funding research projects for young anatomists, particularly from India and other developing countries, to drive innovation in anatomical sciences. This initiative aims to inspire and empower emerging anatomists to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the field. Prof. Helen’s valuable insights reinforced the significant role IFAA can play in enhancing medical education, fostering research collaboration, and supporting the next generation of anatomists.

Furthermore, patients can be involved in care more broadly. Patients can have a role in educating future healthcare professionals. By sharing their experiences, patients can help students learn how to communicate effectively with patients. Furthermore, patients can also be involved in evaluating whether the care delivered by healthcare professionals matches patients' needs. After all, isn’t the one who receives care best equipped to help improve it? In this dissertation, we studied how patients can be prepared for and benefit from involvement in the training of future and current healthcare professionals. Supervisor: Prof. dr.
