Hi Learning Edge Community, We value your input and are always looking for ways to enhance your learning experience. That's why we're reaching out to you today with a question. Would offering Saturday and evening group classes add value to your professional development journey? We understand that many of you have busy schedules, and traditional weekday classes may not always fit your lifestyle. By potentially expanding our course offerings to include Saturday and evening sessions, we hope to provide you with more flexibility and opportunities to pursue your educational goals. We want to hear from you about the types of learning experiences and CEUs (Continuing Education Units) that would be most beneficial to your career growth. Are there specific topics, skills, or certifications that you've been eager to explore? Let us know, and we'll do our best to incorporate them into our future course offerings. We're committed to providing you with the tools and resources you need to succeed in your chosen field. By tailoring our classes to your interests and needs, we aim to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that supports your professional aspirations. Don't be shy, tell us what you want to see. #LearningOpportunities #ProfessionalDevelopment #SaturdayClasses #EveningSessions #FlexibilityInLearning #EducationalGoals #CareerGrowth #ContinuingEducationUnits

There are lots of opportunities to learn and grow in your career. They often take place at the same time of year (like now!) It can be hard to attend everything. If it is difficult to attend all or part of a program you're interested in, sign up anyway. Make an appointment to watch/listen to the recording (if available) after the fact. Pick a time you'll be commuting, or exercising, or otherwise able to listen, and put it into your calendar. Maybe even open the LSO CPD portal in a separate tab to keep you motivated... You will always have the temptation to scroll or otherwise pass the time online, but setting aside time specifically geared towards ongoing learning can help with follow-through, and it will feel great once you've done it. Plus your CPD time will be in great shape!

Why is planning your CPD activities important? Planning your CPD activities is of paramount importance for several reasons. Fundamentally, it sets the foundation for a methodical approach towards personal development, ensuring that learning doesn't happen sporadically but in a strategic, structured manner. Planning can help identify gaps in your skills or knowledge base, thereby providing a clear direction on which areas to focus your professional development efforts. Furthermore, CPD planning encourages accountability as it enables you to track your learning, measure your progress, and adapt your strategies as needed. This can lead to improved efficiency and productivity, enhancing your overall professional competency. In many professions and industries, maintaining a record of #CPD activities is a regulatory requirement. It serves as proof of your commitment to lifelong #learning, demonstrating to employers, colleagues, and stakeholders that you are keeping your #skills and knowledge up-to-date.

What are the CPD Cycle stages? The CPD cycle stages are a simple set of logical and systematic steps that can help you manage your CPD participation. There are five key stages in the CPD Cycle that are important when planning your professional development learning activities for the year: Stage 1 - Identifying Your Needs The first step of the CPD cycle is the process of identifying gaps in your skills and knowledge. Complete a simple self-assessment or needs analysis to help you identify current weaknesses and areas of future development. This will assist you in establishing a general overview of your learning objectives. Stage 2 - Planning Once you have identified your learning needs, the next step is to create a set of objectives that helps you break down which activities and subjects would support your overall development objectives. Stage 3 - Acting/Doing The next step in the CPD Cycle is to attend various learning activities, such as CPD accredited training, educational events, online courses and webinars that can help you achieve your learning objectives. Stage 4 - Reflecting on your learning Once any training courses or other types of CPD have been completed, it is important to reflect upon the success of your CPD. Some questions you may want to ask include: “What did I learn? How has my knowledge increased? What skills have I learnt? What can I put into practice? How can I make a positive improvement to my existing work activities?” Stage 5 - Implement your new #learning The final stage of the CPD Cycle is to apply your new knowledge and #skills to your job role. In order to continuously develop in your professional environment, it is important to repeat the steps in the #CPD Cycle throughout your #career.
