🎉 WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM SPAIN'S VICTORY IN EURO 2024 🎉 First and foremost, a big congratulations to Spain Men's National Football Team for being crowned Champions of Europe! 🏆 It's been a remarkable journey, with Spain conquering European giants like France, Germany and ultimately England. 🇪🇸 This success is highly attributable to LA ROJA's coach, Luis de LA FUENTE, and his hybrid formula of combining young and seasoned players. ⚽ This blend of maturity and experience with talent and flexibility proved to be a winning strategy. The leadership displayed by LA FUENTE, along with experienced players like RODRI, CARVAJAL, and MORATA, helped maximize the potential of their young talents, notably Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams. These young players rose to the occasion and met expectations brilliantly. 🌟 This victory showcases how well young players can perform when given the platform to develop their talents and trusted to deliver on the field during national and international competitions. 🌍 Spain's youth academies, notably La MASIA, and many others working behind the scenes, have played a crucial role in this success. 🏅 Their consistent output of young talent is an important investment for their nation's success, both now and in the future. Spain's success in this tournament didn’t come as a surprise to me, considering the incredible young talents they produce each year. What was the economic impact of Italy hosting The Ryder Cup in 2023? The answer is €262 million making it the most successful Ryder Cup played outside the US. The move away from the UK as the default venue for Ryder Cups in Europe has proven to be a successful gamble. Following France's hosting of the 2018 edition at Golf National, the Marco Simone Country Club hosted the biggest Ryder Cup to date, and the figures indicate just how economically successful the event was. The economic research was carried out by the Sports Industry Research Centre, Sheffield Hallam University. It’s time to reflect on the 2024 Paris Olympics and the lessons we can learn from each athlete’s displays of heroism, sportsmanship, grit, and perseverance in the face of loss. Ireland stood out this Olympics for rising to 19th place overall among the participating countries and taking home four gold medals 🥇 and three bronze 🥉, more than ever before. The below article highlights how when we reframe each country’s winnings per capita, success can take a different shape. Understanding the hard work and talent necessary to compete at any level on the Olympic stage makes any type of success that much more meaningful.

Yesterday, Spain became football’s first ever 4-time European Champions. They won every single game in the tournament. And they didn’t need a single penalty shootout—another record they broke. A truly deserving and successful journey. But sport and business are not so different. Ultimately, you come together as a team to create value. Whether it’s profit or goals, you have to have a vision, drive, and hunger to make it big. Here are 3 key learnings that we can learn from Spain’s victory in the Euros. 1/ Tactical flexibility. The game is always changing. Being agile is key. Bringing in substitutes and changing formation according to the circumstances makes a big difference. Always adapt. 2/ Skill and experience goes hand in hand. Mixing the experience of seasoned players, like Carvajal and Morata with the talent of 17 year old Yamal paid off. Good leadership is key when you are trying to utilize talent. Experience is important, but so is skill. Pick the right team. 3/ Be resilient. When England tied the game 1-1, the pressure was on Spain. But they didn’t collapse. They attacked and made sure that they gave themselves a chance to score. And it paid off. The same applies to business—you have to remain strong and maintain your composure at all times. What a performance.

Participation or Competition sport - where is padel at right now in the UK?🇬🇧 We’re 10 years from producing a player who can compete with these guys 👇🏼 But that’s OK and normal - to be expected. Spain 🇪🇸 has 35+ years head start and a coaching and development programme that’s second to none. 75% of people in Spain who play amateur (participation) padel have regular coaching - I’d say the UK is the complete opposite right now. That’s because we don’t have the quantity or quality of coaches and padel is a sport where early progress is rapid up to a level. Soon we’ll need lots and lots of coaches as the masses who participate want to compete, improve and win. This isn’t something to complain or whinge about but rather a MASSIVE opportunity for the sport in the UK. This type of sporting phenomenon hasn’t come around before so we need to careful. But let’s grasp the nettle together and embrace the overwhelming numbers who want to participate and help them to compete and win 🏆 #padel #participation #growth #sport #coaching #development #competition

**Location shouldn’t limit your potential in tennis.** While research shows that cities of various sizes have greater chances of producing talent, being born outside major hubs doesn't mean you can't succeed in tennis. Take Andy Murray, Jannik Sinner and Rafa Nadal for example—- all born outside a major city and still had access to essential support networks. In Irish tennis, nearly 80% of the current top junior seeds at our national are within 30 minutes of Dublin, up from just over 50% in 2010. This means that people outside Dublin are finding it increasingly more diffulct to compete. Of course we have some excellent talents outside and in fact looking through the years many of our top players did come from outside Dublin. However, no doubt Parents, Players and Coaches in smaller cities face challenges like sparring, limited facilities, and in some cases a less developed performance culture. So, what’s the solution? Tapping into talent hotspots is key. The Prodigy program is a prime example. We have 32 U14 players competing in the upcoming nationals, many already excelling at the Tennis Europe level. Recently, 140 young players from across Ireland attended our summer training blocks, benefiting from the high-performance culture in Bray. Thanks to Ireland’s compact size, Dublin and other major centers are accessible, even if visits are less frequent. Prodigy will now allow young talents, accompanied by their coach ( if available ) to experience our program, to receive support that may not be available and, if suitable, gain additional resources to support their growth alongside their private coaches.
