🌟 This summer at AWE 2024 in Long Beach, I sat in on the panel, "Po Gets a New Platform: How Studios Like Universal Pictures Are Using Immersive Tech for Next-Gen Storytelling." Hearing Sawhorse Interactive discuss their work in Roblox, including projects with Walmart was incredible. Their insights on building immersive, gamified experiences with a brand ethos, KPIs, and social engagement were inspiring! Now, with Walmart's latest AR extension in Roblox — Walmart Discovered — it’s exciting to see the brand evolve in the immersive space. Collaborations like these showcase the power of AR and gamification in connecting brands with audiences, especially Gen Z, who make up 58% of Roblox users. I see endless potential in monetized experiences, blending physical and digital realms, much like Sawhorse’s other projects with film franchises like Kung Fu Panda and Despicable Me. At Roblox, they are nailing it with returnable experiences and social interaction. Virtual Worlds are something we explore at Texas Immersive Institute. The question becomes: How do we push the envelope further in e-commerce, self-expression, and global engagement? Excited to see how this space continues to evolve! Who else is seeing big potential here? 🚀 https://lnkd.in/ewecWJ3y #AWE2024 #ImmersiveTech #Roblox #AR #WalmartDiscovered #SawhorseInteractive #NextGenStorytelling #GenZ #DigitalRetail #AugmentedReality #Innovation

One of the things I'm interested in is technology, everything Microsoft of course like Xbox and Surface but also things that failed like Zune and Windows Phone, so have seen my fair share of successful and less than successful technology products! I also have a keen interesting in seeing what's going on outside from Microsoft, often seeing features I've seen before appear on other devices for the "first time" again, which is always interesting to see, along with innovation and inventions from robots to space and so much much! One great way I learn about many things is from YouTube and one of those is Marques Brownlee aka MKBHD who I've subscribed to for years and has make some amazing reviews of products from various companies, he even did a video about Zune when he was younger! He's become a major player in the online review space and pleased to see that he tackles devices fairly and isn't afraid of pointing out things with devices he otherwise likes! Often reviewers can be accused of bias towards or against a particular company, and sometimes that can be easy to do but something that Marques manages to avoid! This week he reviewed the Humane AI pin in this video https://lnkd.in/epi6RCGN and although the device does show a few features that are intriguing, it isn't what it should be and this review does this really well I feel, although Marques has received a lot of backlash for his opinions, they aren't the only negative ones out there, they are shared by many, but he also does mention the promise the device has, but reviewing a product based on what it can be, or may be, isn't something you can realistically do. Maybe this device will be something incredible in the future, but for now it doesn't quite deliver and reviews do help make sure consumers know what they are getting into, and companies can make sure they do deliver, often products can and do get better over time! If a product like the AI pin becomes amazing in future, then it will be reviewed again and will get the praise it deserves then. There have been games that were released and were reviewed negatively then were updated and improved and became better and deserved another look, so if that happens with this device then that'll be fantastic! Reviews will help shape impressions of products and implementations of products and review feedback has often made things better, in his follow-up video https://lnkd.in/eydsjK7t about Do Bad Reviews Kill Companies he goes into this, sometimes products are bad no matter who makes them, and sometimes they're good and in this case it's just not quite there, but if it was, the review would reflect that!
The Worst Product I've Ever Reviewed... For Now

ALWAYS launch your MVP in its simplest possible form‼️ There’s no reason to give it all the features you’re planning for release. Give users a limited product with a dead simple value proposition. The target is to identify what you need to do for launch and get valuable feedback. NOT to try to blow users' socks off with fancy features.

https://lnkd.in/eqeQnWST that looks quite promising Meta! Since years, the XR-community was asking getting access to the raw pass-through-video or even some simple SDK-extension for aruco-marker-detection so that devs can start building custom XR-solution that don't rely on the limited features coming with the Meta-SDK. Although the AVP will be a fancy non-consumer-product for still a while, it's pretty good to finally have some serious competitor to force Meta doing its homework.

Our teams are diving into uncharted waters with the Apple Vision Pro, building our first Vision Pro prototypes. We are impressed by the groundbreaking UI and incredible passthrough.
