🌍 #EquatorialGuinea's 2024 Voluntary National Review (VNR) marks a significant milestone in the country's journey towards sustainable development. At DPA, we are proud to have undertaken the first VNR in 2022 and supported the Government of Equatorial Guinea in conducting the second VNR in 2024, which assesses the progress made since 2022. This comprehensive review highlights the nation's strides in economic diversification, social and health initiatives, and the strengthening of governance and institutional capacity. However, it also acknowledges the challenges ahead, including the need for updated data and enhanced societal engagement. 📈 Learn more about both VNRs: https://t.ly/z2goV #SustainableDevelopment #2030Agenda #DataForGood #EconomicDiversification #Governance #HealthInitiatives #SDGs #VNR

Now out: OECD Development's latest #Development #Cooperation Report on tackling #poverty and #inequalities alongside #climate change through the #green transition. Led by Eleanor Carey and Ida Mc Donnell, the report is a terrific compilation of insights, evidence, and analysis on development co-operation's role in addressing the poverty and inequalities crisis, which has only gotten worse since the start of the #COVID19 pandemic and a range of other crises this decade. I was lucky to contribute a chapter to this report on how #aid (#OfficialDevelopmentAssistance) targets poverty and inequalities. The chapter shows that how we measure this relationship matters: what you measure is what you treasure. Existing measures don't do the job because they're too narrow, based on proxies, or fall short in guiding effective action. The chapter proposes a suite of indicators that can allow us to tell whether aid is going to the places where the poorest are living or the sectors that matter most for addressing poverty and inequalities. These measures suggest a mismatch between aid and poverty. Of course, more aid would help the global fight against poverty and inequality, but even better targeting existing aid could make a huge difference. Read the chapter to find out more: https://lnkd.in/euamqC-j. I benefitted so much from the wisdom and guidance of colleagues and collaborators in this process - hoping you enjoy the fruits of our collective labour!
Please join us and listen in! Whether in-person if you are at #HLPF or via UN Web TV live stream (see link in document) - everyone is welcome! We are looking forward to an action-oriented dialogue on how to step-up action and recalibrate development co-operation to accelerate action on ending poverty and reducing inequalities and seize green transition opportunities to serve people and plant - AND launch of the #oecddevelopment 2024 Development Co-operation Report. Hosted by Pilar Garrido, OECD Director for development co-operation you will hear from Minister Kenyeh Barlay, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Sierra Leone; Minister Wellington Dias, Minister of Social Development and Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger of Brazil; Minister Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, Minister of International Development of Norway; State Secretary Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany and Heidi McAnnally-Linz, Global Lead for Policy and Partnerships, BRAC International. ‘Public-private partnership essential to achieve SDGs’ https://buff.ly/3vs3STb 'Public-private partnerships play a crucial role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Collaborations between government entities and private sector organizations are essential for driving progress towards achieving the SDGs. These partnerships bring together the expertise, resources, and innovation of both sectors to tackle complex global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change. For example, in the area of healthcare, public-private partnerships have been instrumental in improving access to essential medical services in underserved communities. By combining the strengths of public health systems with the efficiency and innovation of private healthcare providers, these partnerships have helped to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery and expand coverage to vulnerable populations. Statistics show that countries with strong public-private partnerships are more likely to make significant strides towards achieving the SDGs. According to a recent report, nations that prioritize collaboration between the public and private sectors have seen faster progress in areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. In conclusion, public-private partnerships are a powerful tool for driving sustainable development and realizing the SDGs. By working together, governments and businesses can leverage their respective strengths to create lasting impact and build a more equitable and prosperous world for all.'

Excellent work Madam Katherine (Katie) Meighan.. Engaging meetings on increasing climate adaptation and gender equity, investing in smallholder farmers globally, are crucial for several reasons: ■#KnowledgeSharing: Meetings facilitate the exchange of ideas, expertise, and experiences among stakeholders. ■#Collaboration: Meetings foster partnerships, alliances, and networks among governments, organizations, and individuals. ■#ProblemSolving: Meetings enable collective analysis and solution-finding for complex challenges. ■#Prioritization: Meetings help set priorities and align efforts towards common goals. ■#Accountability: Meetings promote transparency and accountability among stakeholders. ■#InclusiveDecisionMaking: Meetings ensure diverse perspectives are considered, including those of marginalized groups. ■#CapacityBuilding: Meetings provide opportunities for training, skill-building, and capacity enhancement. ■#AwarenessRaising: Meetings help raise awareness about critical issues and their impact. ■#ResourceMobilization: Meetings can lead to resource mobilization, including funding and expertise. ■#ActionableOutcomes: Meetings can result in concrete action plans, commitments, and initiatives. By engaging in meetings focused on climate adaptation, gender equity, and investing in smallholder farmers, stakeholders can: - Develop effective strategies - Mobilize resources - Empower marginalized groups - Drive sustainable development - Enhance global food security - Address climate change ■Meetings can be a powerful tool for driving positive change and promoting sustainable development.

“Institutionalizing evaluation is crucial, given its technical nature within a political context. National evaluation policies define evaluation's purpose and stakeholders' roles, but investments in systems and ecosystems are equally vital. Collaboration across sectors, including parliaments, is key for accountability and SDGs achievement.” Access the speech of Marco Segone, Director of Evaluation Office, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA): https://lnkd.in/gex8JXkg 📝Join us in the collective resolution movement to institutionalizing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sign the Manila Declaration: https://lnkd.in/gKcmSEhr 🌐 #ManilaDeclaration #SDGs #Eval4Action #APCHub

💡 Did you know? The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development currently hosts four Thematic Working Groups, on: ✅ Land Governance, chaired by ward anseeuw (FAO) ✅ Rural Youth Employment, chaired by Elisenda E. (International Labour Organization) and Ji-Yeun Rim (OECD - OCDE) ✅SDG2 Roadmap, chaired by Ammad Bahalim (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and Chris Hillbruner (USAID) ✅Sustainable/Blended Finance, chaired by Tuleen Khoffash (International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)) and Songbae Lee (USAID). Organizing around Thematic Working Groups helps us to be more targeted in our work, generating opportunities for broader policy coherence across long-term strategies. The thematic working groups act as political entry points to gather donors in each of the four fields to share knowledge, develop agendas, and combine advocacy efforts. #sustainablefinance #SDG2 #youth #land

The APRM in collaboration with OECD - OCDE Public Goverance and African Association For Public Administration and (AAPAM) is organizing a national workshop on #Policycoherence for #SustainableDevelopment and #Agenda2063 in #Kenya. The workshop aims to : * Identify priorities for strengthening government capacities to address synergies, manage policy #trade-offs and avoid negative spillovers in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063 “ the Africa we want” * Improve understanding among policy makers and key #stakeholders on how institutional mechanisms and government tools can support integrated policy making, enhance policy coherence for sustainable development, and accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. The workshop offers a #multistakeholders engagement on these issues and equally provides a self -assessment tool guided by principles of PCSD OECD which has been updated to align with the #African context . As Kenya is presenting the 3rd Voluntary National Review on SDGs at the #HLPF2024, this national capacity building program is timely needed for all involved stakeholders. I would like to thank the great #OECD team who has been supporting this initiative for #Africa Carina Lindberg Tatyana Teplova, PhD Ernesto Soria Morales

I'm glad to have attended the SDGs VNR Report 2024 launch. The report is pivotal in assessing Kenya's progress and commitment towards achieving the SDGs. With the theme of 'leave no one behind',A multisectoral approach was employed in the drafting and coming up with the report. SDGs kenya being the umbrella of CSOs has been at the forefront in amplyfing voices of marginalised groups, showing ground realities and acting as accountability keepers to the government. With much emphasis being put on SDGs 1,2,13,16 and 17, I hope the report will help inform policy makers, the general public and other stakeholders(state dep't of economic planning,KEPSA) on the different thematic areas of interest. Now that we have six years remaining, we can leverage on the existing policy and legal frameworks in strengthening our institutions, for effective implementation. #VNR2024 #TwendekazinaSDGs

« The quality of #publicadministration and #governance arrangements is higher than ever on the political agenda at both national and global levels. There is growing consensus among countries that #sustainabledevelopment can only be advanced through a multipronged approach comprising a commitment to the so-called pentagram of action to reinforce the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as defined by the Committee (see figure 1 in attached document) This ‘pentagram of action’ calls for #effective communication by governments, and can serve to build mutual #trust between governments, citizens, and other stakeholders with renewed shared ambitions. » Fresh insights from the 23rd session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration, April 2024, #NewYork.
