Passenger numbers in January, February and March have all been well ahead of 2023 levels and last month's traffic was boosted by international sporting fixtures, St. Patrick's Day/Bank Holiday and the start of the Easter school holidays. Commenting on last month's business performance, daa CEO Kenny Jacobs said: "Cork Airport had another fantastic month, with passenger numbers up 25% on March last year. A very extensive summer schedule has just started at Cork Airport, with a new Ryanair service to Brussels starting last weekend. This fall, Delta is introducing premium economy service on some transcontinental flights in effort to sell tickets at higher prices. Premium economy seats will still be cheaper than business class yet double the cost of standard economy. CNBC reports that Delta is in competition with United Airlines and JetBlue to offer elevated services and more premium seating. Delta will roll out premium economy on select flights, particularly the highly-demanded flights between LA and NYC. Premium economy will offer more legroom, amenities kits, noise-canceling headphones and full meals. British Airways announces major changes to what will now be known as #TheBritishAirwaysClub - and earning tier points will now be based on actual spend pre-govt taxes and charges. So if you want Gold status, you’ll need to earn 20,000 points. The timing is fascinating, with more leisure travellers flying in premium cabins, but not flying enough to leap to Gold status, and a drop in the number of business travellers overall. Will the move reduce Gold leisure travellers or will they simply fly with other oneworld Alliance carriers who don’t award points based on spend? Some might say we had a supersonic August at Dublin Airport with almost 3.5 million passengers passing through our two terminals.    Demand to fly in and out of Dublin Airport remained exceptionally high in the month as we experienced our 20th consecutive month of record passenger numbers.   A total of 3.46 million passengers went through the terminal doors of Dublin Airport, making this August the busiest month ever in Dublin Airport’s 84-year history.   The week of August 12 took the medal for our busiest week ever with 829,000 passengers, while Sunday, August 18 was our busiest day ever, with 124,600 passengers going through our two terminals.   This brings our total number of passengers this year to 22.7 million - 5.5% more than the first eight months of last year, with this trend forecast to continue into September.   Passenger satisfaction scores at Dublin Airport have never been better, after we brought in many new improvements for passengers (drop & go parking, new restaurants, click & collect shopping, faster wifi, additional seating) and more than 94% of passengers got through security in 20 minutes or less. https://lnkd.in/ep8mftCN
