What are your thoughts on #Reshoring? I first learned of this concept in 2010, ironically enough, while in the middle of transitioning production from the US to China. The delays, difficulties, and increased inventory from sourcing overseas were significantly impacting the goals of our business unit. It seemed so destructive to source so far from the demand location. It still does.... Except for that one small detail: cost. Most US-based Brands source at least partially from overseas (or at least- most of the ones I have encountered). Back in 2010, it seemed that the only way to counter the large price difference - even with freight/customs included- would be through automation. 3D printing was looking interesting for that space. And now advances in AI and robotics are opening new possibilities. Annnnddd, for several years, especially since Covid, the talk about companies wanting to reshore has been growing. AND YET. The process has been sllloooowww. Maybe the +1 strategy is a step in that direction? Interesting article attached in the comments on this topic. What are your thoughts on this? #Onshoring #Nearshoring #Sourcing #GlobalSupplyChain #Inventory
