On one level this is awesome on another it spells the next major disruption in labour. While everyone has commented before on the fusion of AI and robotics creating a new paradigm in the workforce this represents a very real challenge to anyone who is engaged in manual labour. What however is apparent is that with machine learning it’s now not just jobs in manual labour that are going to be disrupted it’s also white collar roles. The investment in a leased robotic workforce will happen - it will be driven by financial services businesses, insurance companies and industry who will be able to conduct business 24 x 7 with no unions, no sick leave, no remote working demands and a vastly simplified bottom line due to no salaries. (Salaries will become lease deals). Governments need to start to address this and now, otherwise globally they will be facing a massive unemployment problem within 10 years. Who needs an autonomous car or bus when a robot can drive a normal one? Great original post from Endrit Restelica. #futureofwork

Robots are coming! OpenAI & Figure just introduced the world's most advanced AI Robot - Figure 02. This robot is capable of full conversations with humans thanks to onboard mics and speakers connected to custom AI models trained in partnership with OpenAI. 6 cameras and an onboard Vision Language Model (VLM) enable it to understand the world with common-sense visual reasoning. Speech-to-speech reasoning makes speech the primary mode of communication. It can engage in fluid, natural conversations, just like a human. The robot can understand and respond to its environment in real-time, making it incredibly versatile. We are moving closer and closer to a future where machines and humans live together.
