Fostering a culture of innovation is fundamental for the success and sustainability of any company that wants to remain competitive and profitable in a globalized world. Incentivizing innovation is something that I am proud to say we have prioritized in Aleatica across all of our operations. Innova is an internal program that promotes the proposal of new ideas by our team members to increase operational efficiencies, improve customer experience, and strengthen the safety of our team and customers. Recognizing the creativity of our team members across the geographies where we operate has helped to develop a shared sense of purpose as well as has brought tangible results. In the 2024 edition of the Innova awards, we received 116 proposals, of which 91% are replicable in the markets where we operate; 66% are focused on safety and service excellence. A couple of examples include an App designed to report wildlife sightings and collisions to protect biological corridors in Colombia, and a geographical localization tool that sends alerts about critical situations and monitors temperatures to take into account weather conditions on our highways. Via Innova, we optimize our processes to confront current and future challenges and add value to our business while recognizing our team members. #Innovation #TeamWork

If we don’t reach people – does innovation really matter? The true value of an innovation is created when it makes a difference in people’s lives, and while we in Sweden and the Nordics typically rank high on global innovation indexes, we often struggle with implementing new ideas into daily practice. Last night, I had the privilege of hosting a network dinner in Stockholm with some of distinguished innovators and thought leaders to discuss what needs to happen to make sure more great innovations actually reach the people who need them. Here are three themes that emerged during our discussions which resonated strongly with me: • The 'why' behind our innovations is crucial. Without a clear purpose, implementation is unlikely to happen • Engaging the end user early in the process supports genuine partnership and co-creation, and understanding of needs • Sharing experiences across sectors about the journey from innovation to implementation can help identify and solve common challenges Thank you for great discussions Nassim Farrokhnia, Regina Summer, Lena Svendsen, Ann Therese Enarsson, Håkan Djuphammar, Fredrik Vernersson, Mats Rönnbo, and Cecilia Ungerstedt & Petra Eurenius for co-hosting. I am proud of our strong tradition of research and innovation, and I celebrate how we consistently punch above our weight, being small nations but homes to big innovations. However, only about 60% of recently approved medicines in EU is available to Swedish patients (EFPIA patients WAIT indicator), and actual usage is even lower. We are often quick to applaud the idea, but seeing it through to implementation is how we make innovations matter. The last mile is often the hardest, but that is both our opportunity and responsibility as innovators, so let's keep sharing and learning, and, like we say in Swedish - tillsammans kan vi göra en skillnad!

Thanks ERRIN for giving me the opportunity to talk about how demand-driven/procurement of innovation mobilises regional stakeholders. At Ticbiomed, we claim that identifying a challenge in a customer organization helps to align the ecosystem as it attracts SMEs and startups to solve it. Also because it involves other local stakeholders (like Regional Development Agencies or clusters) to deliver further value. I shared our ongoing work in the project PREPARE to design policies adapted to the realities of regions to connect offer and demand. Some best practices acquired with Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia at the Region of #Murcia were also presented. Special thanks to Ewa Chomicz and Pirita Lindholm for the invitation. Here are the details of the event https://lnkd.in/drmNEKcn. If you are a regional policymaker interested in open innovation, happy to provide more information. We are creating a network of regions interested in demand-driven innovation to increase local competitiveness. Check the #PREPARE project website for more information https://lnkd.in/dP4ziV2U

Our Strategic Partner: Marshal Office of Podlaskie Region! 🤩 🔥 In June this year, the European Commission identified 151 regions from the European Union as Regional Innovation Valleys (RIVs). The Podlaskie Voivodeship was awarded the Regional Innovation Valley (RIV). The Regional Innovation Valleys initiative is one of the 25 activities of the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA). It aims to realize the full innovation potential across Europe, connecting less and more innovative regions and addressing societal challenges with cutting-edge technologies. The awarding of the Regional Innovation Valley title recognizes that a region has the competence and commitment to develop and popularize innovation, and that in selected technological areas (Food security, Improving healthcare) it is ready for joint activities with regions from other countries. Submission of the Podlaskie Voivodeship under the so-called “expression of interest” meant in practice declaring the region’s potential, experience, specialization, as well as areas of future cooperation with other regions. The identified regions will be supported by the Commission through community-building activities, networking events and targeted communication activities. With the Regional Innovation Valleys, the European Commission wants to create a community of regions that meet local challenges and needs, while contributing to the We are grateful, happy and proud to obtain financial support from Podlaskie Urząd_Marszałkowski / Invest in Podlaskie For more information, visit www.podlaskie.eu

While several avenues stem from innovation, a few elements are always consistent in organizations gearing for a more creative tomorrow. There is no innovation without collaboration, forward-thinking, and adaptability to emerging developments. Balancing these practices prepares organizations to stay competitive and embrace the fact that innovation must come with change, rather than a sole focus on the present. Great article! #Innovation #BusinessGrowth #BusinessTransformation
