Further to my first fitness workshop, I am happy to report that the headcount of fitness enthusiast has increased to17...and counting! Today morning I conducted my third of the many future fitness workshop focusing on duration and intensity of over dozen warm up activities, from head to the toe - literally, teaching participants to place the toe on ground to rotate the ankle and hips. My thumb rule for the warm up exercises is to focus on ONLY the natural movements of body that we use in daily life. For example instead of rotating the head that rarely happens for real-world activities, I encourage participants to move the head to the left and to the right, hold for 20 seconds to feel stretch of neck muscles and to tilt the head downwards and upwards. We move our head to the left/right many times a day! Advantage - Greater degree of head movement, stimulation of inner bundle of neck and upper back muscles possible while rotating the head. Second workshop marked the attendance of 15 working professionals from IT industry to whom I trained the participants on basic elements of brisk walking alternating with very slow jogging for a distance of 1.5 km. Participants said slow jog was difficult to maintain for longer duration than medium paced jog.
