Check out our new blog post on policies to accelerate #datacenterheatreuse - a #climatesolution for #datacenters, #buildings, and #factories. Europe is far ahead of U.S. and we should catch up! I will be talking about this paper at the Open Compute Project Regional Conference in Lisbon on April 25.
📣 New from DGA! Governments across the globe have enacted policies to incentivize, or even require, data center heat reuse. Today — Earth Day — we’re highlighting a new paper that David Gardiner co-authored for the Open Compute Project Foundation looking at 20+ specific policies in Europe, Asia, and North America. Here's just a sampling: ➡ The European Union created a tool to help match data centers with potential off-takers for its heat. ➡ Germany has set new requirements for data centers to reuse at minimum 10% of their heat. ➡ In the U.S., Washington state offers grants for waste coordination R&D projects, including data center heat reuse. “Reusing heat from data centers is a win-win that will help data centers, buildings, and factories lower their costs and carbon footprints,” David Gardiner says in our press release. “But this tool is still under-utilized. Some governments have made strides to encourage data center heat reuse, but many more should act.” Check out our blog post to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gBDmyHPP And view the full paper, from authors David Gardiner, Otto VanGeet, PE (National Renewable Energy Laboratory); Jaime Comella Gómez-Aller (AQ Compute - Data Centers); and Bharath Ramakrishnan (Microsoft): https://lnkd.in/gPquGxn5 #datacenters #climatesolution #cleanenergy #earthday
