As a leader, THIS is your priority. Leadership is Influence, nothing more, nothing less (Maxwell, 2010). If you’re not continually working to help others reach their potential, then you may need a new role. Some of the greatest hires I ever made came from giving someone an unexpected opportunity.

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗯, 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿? Some people might call it job security but I say it's really just giving someone else the opportunity to shine. Sounds counterintuitive, maybe? In fact, I actually think it’s a two-for-one deal. When you build up someone else on your team, they become capable of stepping into your role and that’s a sign of a great leader. Pick one person, bring them into the fold, and let them learn what it takes to lead. Give them insights, let them fail (supportively), and celebrate their wins. You might be surprised to see that your “replacement” is actually one of your greatest assets. #Leadership #Mentorsip #LeadFromTheFront #KeepGoing

Can't describe to you how lucky if you can get a true job. You spend nearly half of your life at work, a great manager makes a huge difference—they create opportunities, support your growth, and genuinely care about your well-being. Great leaders don’t just emphasize their own importance; they make you feel valued. Leadership isn't about the authority you hold. It's also about: - The Vision you shared - The Trust you build - The Example you set - The Empathy you show - The Confidence you inspire There is so much more to it than just being in charge. Being a leader is a big deal. When you're in charge, what you do and decide can really change how people's careers and lives turn out. As a leader, you can inspire and guide your team, showing them how to do things well and helping them succeed. But being a leader also means you have a big responsibility. You've got to be fair, caring, and honest, thinking about how your actions affect others. Being a good leader isn't just about hitting goals; it's about making a positive and supportive space where everyone can do their best. Remember, being a leader is a special chance to make a difference. So, always think about how your leadership can shape the paths of others' careers and lives. like the share if you agree with me 💫 Follow Sangita Ravat for more such posts and career advice 💫❤️ #leadership #leadershipqualities #careers #kindness #linkedin LinkedIn

Evaluate your leaders.
I was eager to take on a leadership role to demonstrate my capabilities to both myself and my employer. However, despite my efforts, I found myself isolated. I have come to realize that leadership is not about exerting control, but rather about influencing and connecting with others to guide them towards a common goal.

Real leaders don't run from leading. I love to take people on our team team that others have said the person "isn't working out" or "doesn't fit in on their team." Is it that the person doesn't fit in or you're trying to fit them in the wrong place? Many times, people are promoted up from a position that they did a great job at. Then when they get in the new positions they struggle because they haven't been equipped to perform the new duties. They're just expected to perform because they did in the previous role. It is the job of the leader is to make the position fit the person, not the other way around. #RealLeadersLead.

One thing I am learning in my role as a team leader is that indeed a leader is only as good as good as the support they receive. As I reflect on my journey, I realise that I have truly been supported by people who consistently propel and support me to become better for those that I lead in my team. I learned very early on in my career that in order for me to enhance the work life of the people in my team, I need to streamline processes, which in turn, foster efficiency. It’s so easy to grand-stand and watch someone’s career unfold right infront of you, without really making it your business to impart knowledge, transfer skills and intentionally groom them… BUT that is the easy choice. The choice of myopic leaders. So my question then is- how many opportunities are you giving those that are under your leadership?

I quit my 1st job because of the toxic environment… (Since then, I’ve started my own business) Here’s the #1 thing I’ve learned from that toxic job: Leadership makes or breaks the workplace. A great leader can inspire, guide, and uplift you. A poor one can leave you doubting your potential EVERY SINGLE DAY. Here’s what I noticed about toxic leadership: It focuses on control, not growth. It’s quick to criticize but slow to appreciate. It avoids accountability but demands perfection. When I started my business, I realized: Leadership isn’t about power, it’s about empowering others. Value your team, and they will value your mission! Leaving that job was hard, but it was the best decision I ever made. Sometimes, walking away opens the door to something far better. P.S. What’s one lesson a difficult job taught you?

Recently, as part of the City Leaders program, I underwent the Clifton Strengths assessment. By contrast, to a personality test, Clifton Strengths is a performance-based assessment rooted in years of research. The goal is not to indicate personality traits but to maximize your potential based on your natural strengths. Clifton Strengths helps you aim your purpose at greater performance. Because Clifton Strengths focuses on your greatest opportunities for development and success (rather than on your weaknesses), you can use your reports to tackle things like your career, working on teams and your personal relationships. Of the 34 attributes observed through the assessment, my top 5 strengths showed a decision-maker, with a strong strategic/visionary mindset, followed by a motivation for developing people. The roles aligned with these results indicate a person suited to management and leadership roles. #CliftonStrengths
