The role of PR is often misunderstood. During the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) townhall this month, the guest speaker Mark Masai took the time to explain that PR is more than a job, it is building relationships that can help your organization to influence actions, decisions from stakeholders. That is not easy, it takes time, it takes effort, there will be many hits and misses but in the end what matters is building positive brands. Public Relations and Communications are interconnected but are also two different phenomena. PR has to do with establishing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and the public. It is more relational than scientific. It has to do with consistent and intentional messaging, with the aim of communicating with a wide range of audience and managing stakeholders. Communications on the other hand, involves a more scientific and psychological approach. It concerns dealing deeply with concepts and techniques that are strategically mapped out and implemented. Knowing and understanding the difference between PR and Communications, enables their proper and appropriate applications in relevant spheres. #PR #communications #strategiccommunications #strategy #business #africa

Effective Communication is first psychology before it is an art! I have always believed and kept sharing this unique path towards communication mastery. This explains the science of the art of encrypting messages in words or symbols to create value (or at least, perceived value) for all stakeholders in the unique context of that communication process. Well said Mrs Sola Abulu (SCMP®) and well done for rightly dividing the seeming inseparable concepts.
