"We need to learn something, not just talk about it"
This was an objective that was clear for us and for EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency from the initial concept of WORC24. That is why I am so excited about this partnership with the University of Southampton. It is also a demonstration of a longer relationship that we have had with the Department of Decision Analytics and Risk through our sponsorship of a PhD, conducted by Stanislav Bukhman and supervised by Prof. Mario P. Brito, focusing on probabilistic methods of risk analysis. Both of these leading experts will be speaking at WORC24.
The other key objective we had was that WORC24 is not to be a stand alone event, for which the conversation stops the moment everyone leaves the conference and doesn't start again until the next one. The partnership with UoS will deliver on-going and continuous conversation beyond the conference. We will be co-authoring a white paper on the key outcomes and recommendations from the conference and we are looking to run academic workshops focusing on quantification of mitigation from expert opinion in the months following WORC24. This is what conferences should be - a platform for industry engagement that facilitates and enables further conversation and development.
Thank you to UoS Department of Decision Analytics and Risk. Looking forward to developing this partnership even further and looking forward to seeing everyone in Warsaw. More exciting news on the educational side to come...
