Do Not Give up Getting your dream job requires you to have gather some experience,you can't sit at home an gain experience ,there are rules you need to follow to get the job 1.Start small This is an important step to get your dream job as many top companies don't have the time for graduate training,they need a ready made who will be trained on the experience he/she has before. To gain the experience you can only start with small organization an most time with or without no income. 2 . Don't Be Discourage Waking up every morning to seeing rejection mail from organization can make you loose focus sometimes but see this a channel to success but not downfall 3.Build An Attracting CV Let you Cv speak more about you,what you can do and the past organization where you have worked This are the rules that guide me to where I am today. I am happy to inform you all that I am start a new position as the Mechanical Engineer (Project Division) at AIR SEPARATION NIGERIA LIMITED.

What is it like to be a woman working on oil wells? The Field Engineer community blog today features Peninnah Isom Akumute who works as a coiled tubing field service engineer for HYDROSERVE. Peninnah has a degree in electrical and electronic engineering from University of Port Harcourt as well as a post graduate diploma in petroleum technology. She is based in Port Harcourt in Nigeria. Women in engineering The number of women in the oil and gas engineering is increasing. What can increase it more? I think there are three main ways to encourage more women into oil and gas. 1. Jobs More job openings for women in the oil and gas engineering. 2. Mentors Improve mentorship as here in my country, we need more active professional societies, where industry professionals can mentor fresh graduates and university students. Also, raising an awareness campaign for the benefits of professional affiliations and mentorship. 3. 'Catch them young' Improve on the 'catch them young' campaign. From time to time, STEM industries should sponsor events to encourage teens and younger children towards choosing a STEM course. What advice would you give to a woman when they are the only woman in a team? Build your skills and expertise, be confident in your abilities, be authentic and genuine, develop strong relationships and allies; remember to stand-up for yourself. What would you say to a woman who is considering working in the oil and gas industry? She needs to keep developing her skills, know the limit of her physical strength, be discerning, be supportive of other women and most importantly she needs to develop mental toughness. As a female in the field, you may work with male colleagues that are very supportive. But there may be a few occasions you’re likely going to meet a male counterpart that would feel irritable to see a woman in the field and could try ways to make you feel inferior. Hence, you need to build a healthy self-esteem, speak up against such marginalisation and build a tough mind-set. (I have experienced these things on few occasions while working with other service providers.) What are your tips for feeling confident and not out of place? Being proud of the small things, believe in your cause, speaking up, learning to say no and acceptance - that it's OK to be wrong. The global energy market is giving unprecedented opportunities for electrical engineers. In all scenarios, there will be more jobs than skilled candidates available, leading to 2030. 1 year ago, the International Energy Agency (IEA) issued their world Energy employment report, highlighting that there will be 8 million clean energy jobs will that will be added worldwide by 2030. It takes 18-24 months to gain the right basic experience and develop the needed engineering skills. More companies are hiring graduates and training new people. If I was looking to start my career today, I would start in a testing and commissioning or any other similar site-based junior role. Starting from the late stages of projects gives you more visibility and understanding of the systems you will work on, like no other. From there you can find out what you enjoy doing and branch out. There hasn't been a better time to embark on your clean energy career.

My Dawn in Engineering This is actually the synopsis of how I started Engineering, you know this popular happening that African parents always want to choose carriers for their children, I was an escaped victim, from my early age I have always love Engineering (making technical things happen) but I keep performing better in biology compare to physics and my dad wanted me to become a medical doctor, he made many promises to me if I choose to study medicine and surgery he even went to the extent of registring me for extra biology class but I didn't conform (you know this regular Nigeria slangs, I jakpa lol) Fast forward to 2017 when I gain admission to the university to study Mechanical Engineering, Wow I was hoping to always be at the workshop and do something with my hands and see results but I was heart broken to meet principles upon principles, I was frustrated that I have to ask my lecturer "sir all this principle when are we going to the workshop" then he answered by asking me a question that finally gave me a direction, he said "Do you want to be a technician or an engineer" with this I conducted my self and took my studies personal. Fast forward again to 2021 when I had my first site experience at Geregu Gas power plant, the summary of the experience is I saw principles working, so many jumbo machines all using the principles I was getting tired of, then I realise how powersome those principles were.
