Gratitude for the Unknown 🙌, pt. IV You guessed it—if there are four speakers and I’ve tried to guess the talks of three of them, here comes my final guess for Uve‘s talk at TEDxSchwabing today. So here‘s my final one the inspiring Dr. Uve Samuels, founder of the Exponential Innovation Institute. Uve is a true visionary in the realms of digital transformation and innovation, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us today. But sounds like we fell into the same „Zaubertrank“ when we were younger 😀 My guess? Uve will take us on a journey into the future of exponential innovation, challenging us to move beyond incremental improvements and embrace a mindset of disruption and radical change. He’s sure to share insights on how organisations—especially in Europe—can scale new heights by adopting moonshot thinking and focusing on purpose-driven growth. I imagine he’ll also dive into the role of culture in enabling this transformation, advocating for the courage to experiment, fail, and ultimately pioneer the future. Uve, before your talk even begins, I’m grateful for your vision and leadership in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. I’m looking forward to being inspired and rethinking how we can all foster exponential innovation in our lives and work. 🙏 #Gratitude #TEDxSchwabing #Innovation #ExponentialThinking #MoonshotThinking #Leadership #DigitalTransformation #Purpose

Got to love Boston Consulting Group (BCG)'s "Strategic Foresight Imperative" The call to expand from "traditional trend extrapolation" to mixed methods foresight driven by data analytics is a massive challenge for most organizations. Academically, there has been calls for a stronger integration of data analytics with traditional foresight methods for a good 15 years, but progress has been slow. Roughly 5 years ago we at VTT built a data team to work together with corporate #foresight team and since have actively looked at ways to drive insights from merging foresight with data. From this, I know the value proposition of the foresight imperative makes sense. This said, getting to decisions based on the analysis still needs corporate leadership willing to look beyond the next earnings call.

"There is something rotten in the state of Denmark," William Shakespeare famously wrote in Hamlet about my homeland, Denmark. If I were to relate this to my work with future-driven innovation in 2024, the same could be said about the global state of innovation. A thesis of mine, supported by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in their report "Innovation Systems Need a Reboot," highlights a stark reality: Since 2022, innovation readiness has drastically declined, with just 3% of companies today in the ready zone. 3%!!!!!!!! This perfectly aligns with my experiences. Consider the rapid pace at which the world is moving; yet, many companies have never been worse at embracing radical innovation. My take is that we need a serious rethink on how we approach and foster radical innovation. For indeed, there is something rotten in the state of our innovation ecosystems. #Innovation #RadicalInnovation #FutureTrends #Technology #BusinessStrategy #Leadership #GlobalBusiness #ChangeManagement #SustainableInnovation #Futures

Thank you Bugge. Some of these findings may apply globally. Here is a thought spark idea to ignite a conversation: Causal AI could be an excellent addition to the framework presented in the image, complementing both Generative AI and Predictive AI to create an even more powerful toolkit for innovation. Here's how Causal AI could relate to and enhance this idea: 1. Completing the AI Triad: - If Predictive AI is the "left brain" (analytical) and Generative AI is the "right brain" (creative), Causal AI could be seen as the "prefrontal cortex" - responsible for understanding cause-effect relationships, planning, and decision-making. 2. Enhancing Decision Quality: - While Predictive AI can forecast outcomes based on historical data, and Generative AI can create new ideas, Causal AI can help understand why certain outcomes occur and how to intervene to achieve desired results. - This could significantly improve the quality of strategic decisions in the innovation process. 3. Identifying Key Drivers: - Causal AI could help innovators identify the true drivers of success or failure in their innovation efforts, going beyond mere correlations to understand causal relationships. 4. Simulating Interventions: - With Causal AI, innovators could simulate the potential impacts of different innovative ideas or strategies before implementation, reducing risks and optimizing resource allocation. 5. Improving Generalizability: - Causal AI can help create more robust and generalizable models, which is crucial when innovating for new markets or applications where historical data might be limited. 6. Ethical Innovation: - By understanding causal relationships, Causal AI could help anticipate and mitigate unintended consequences of innovations, leading to more responsible and sustainable innovation practices. 7. Bridging AI Types: - Causal AI could serve as a bridge between Predictive and Generative AI, using causal understanding to guide predictive models and to structure the creative output of generative models in more meaningful ways. 8. Enhancing Explainability: - In regulated industries or when dealing with high-stakes innovations, Causal AI's ability to provide clear explanations for its recommendations could be invaluable. Incorporating Causal AI into this framework could create a more comprehensive and powerful approach to AI-driven innovation. It would add a layer of understanding and intentionality to the process, potentially leading to more targeted, effective, and responsible innovations. This three-pronged approach (Predictive, Generative, and Causal AI) could represent the next evolution in AI-assisted innovation strategies. Joel Stenson Michael Carroll V. Kumar

🌟 Transforming Science, and Evolving Culture 🌟 In mid-October, our team came together for an offsite to continue unpacking the groundbreaking science we are advancing. We also took some time to appreciate the intricacies of non-linear drug development, while building cultural bridges that will help make us a stronger, more connected team. From discussions with scientific luminaries to team-building exercises under the sun, we shared insights and challenges and spent time defining each of our behavioral values. Moments like these remind us that evolving as an organization isn’t just about advancing science—it’s about cultivating the culture that drives that innovation forward. Together, we’re shaping the culture and the science of Bitterroot Bio -- blending cutting-edge research with a collaborative spirit. #Innovation #TeamCulture #ScientificBreakthroughs #Collaboration #Leadership
