It was a busy couple of days this week but two great events were held. Montemarano, Mark Potts and Trevor Mold, moderated by Patrick Verriet, CD, AAP. Four excellent aftermarket ambassadors who gave some really interesting insights about their careers and the path they've taken in the industry. And Stephanie Cooney-Mann's presentation on developing a career map — I loved the comment about a career path doesn't always have to move up but it should move forward. And the events this week were all thanks to the Young Professionals in the Auto care sector committee. On that note, you may have seen an email recently from Automotive Industries Association of Canada about sponsorship opportunities in 2025. There’s now an opportunity to sponsor just the YPA or single events. Maybe you can’t afford (or don’t want to do) a full level sponsorship with AIA Canada but want to support a group like the YPA and the network we’re trying to build — you see the value in the young pros having a community to network; maybe you want your own staff to take part. But these networking opportunities and professional development series need support from the industry to put on. And everyone looks forward to our holiday networking reception (psst: The next one is coming up on Dec. 4!) So I encourage you to have a look at the sponsorship opportunities and look at what we’re doing in the YPA — to keep a vibrant, successful community of young professionals in the aftermarket and one that will lead the next generation of this industry, consider a sponsorship. #CommunityInsightThursday The first time I came across Billy Shore's Letter from the Cathedral of Milan was during my time at ALX when I was doing the AiCE program and it was indeed a beautiful letter. Imagine all the people whose sweat, blood, time, and resources were infused into the building project, just because they believed in the concept and wanted it to become a reality, not minding if it will be in their lifetime that the project would be completed. As I reflected on his words, I realized that community building is at the heart of every meaningful professional relationship. After reading the letter and reminiscing over it, these are what I got from it; 📌 Shore emphasizes the importance of genuine connections over mere transactions. In our professional lives, this means focusing on people, not just opportunities. 📌 The Cathedral's intricate architecture reminds us that our individual strengths are amplified when intertwined with others. 📌 Just as the Cathedral's diverse stones create a breathtaking whole, our communities thrive when we celebrate diverse perspectives. With all I learned from this, it can also Impact on Building Professional Relationships in the sense that; 1. We should Invest in people, not just projects. Nurture relationships that transcend immediate goals. 2. Foster collaborative ecosystems because our successes are often tied to others. 3. Another term is in the books with today’s class and with that, I'd like to recognize the 3 industry companies that collaborated with me during the winter 2024 term to provide my students with marketing consulting projects in my 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒎, 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 & 𝑳𝒆𝒊𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 course at Schulich School of Business - York University. 🌧️ Turning Challenges into Opportunities: A Memorable Networking Event at the University of Toronto 🌧️ As an event professional, I quickly learned that every event comes with its unique set of challenges. Today, I had the incredible opportunity to assist a networking event at the University of Toronto. The event was planned to be a beautiful outdoor gathering, with everything meticulously set up. However, unexpectedly just an hour before the event was set to begin, we were hit with a heavy rainfall. Here are the risk management points for handling the unexpected rainfall: We quickly identified available indoor spaces on campus, and with the help of an amazing team, we moved key elements indoors. This included the registration desk and the bar, ensuring guests could still enjoy the planned experience. The dedication and teamwork displayed by everyone involved were truly inspiring. From the setup crew to the catering staff, everyone pitched in to make the necessary adjustments.  Despite the unexpected weather, the event was a success. It became a memorable occasion, not only for the attendees but for all of us who contributed to making it happen. This experience was a powerful reminder that adaptability and quick thinking can turn potential setbacks into opportunities for creativity and collaboration. I am incredibly proud of what we achieved and grateful for the support of an outstanding team.
