With Valentine's Day tomorrow, we have dessert wines on the mind. At Wiens Cellars, we have been making both Ruby Port & White Port long enough to keep the name, but nowadays, that's pretty rare. "Port wine’s roots stretch back to the 17th century when merchants began adding brandy to wine to preserve it for the journey from Portugal to England. Today, true port comes exclusively from the Douro Valley, where the unique terroir lends these wines their distinctive qualities." The LANGTONS Classification 8th Edition has just been announced. Since 1990 it’s been the definitive form guide to Australian fine wine. This latest edition consists of 100 wines in two tiers: 1st Classified, and Classified. “LANGTONS Classification has been the north star for wine collectors in Australia for some decades. A data-led, insights driven vinous collectable, the Classification poster has shaped how wine drinkers buy, sell and consume Australia's finest wines. At the same time, it has doubled as a talking point around countless dining tables and tasting benches across the land. The Classification is based on demand at auction. The Classification is not based on the subjective opinions of wine experts or LANGTONS auctioneers.” We will be touring Australia in 2024 to host a series of not-to-be-missed events showcasing the very finest Australian wines.
LANGTONS on Instagram: "First published in 1990, this latest edition is a fascinating snapshot of the evolving tastes of Australian collectors since its previous edition, published five years ago. Considered the go-to guide to Australia’s most highly-sought-after wines, the LANGTONS Classification reflects consumer demand, collectability, and prices fetched at auction. We are delighted to present
