This is an excellently written article on a man on a mission, and Kim and his team’s success will benefit all of us northerners. A point that is often lost in this wonky world where naysayers too often portray industry as mere heartless capitalists, companies are here at the invitation of governments to find and develop public resources to convert into public benefits, using their risk tolerance, the investment dollars they can raise, and their expertise, all things that governments themselves cannot offer. And that makes industry’s work with government a partnership. But, as I say, too often the public and governments don’t realize this. Time to support Ekati and the rest of the industry who are trying to help. IMHO.

When delivering projects, working with communities and bringing people along often becomes a critical success factor.    Though this mahi may not always be visible in the final outcome, it is fundamental to achieving agreement and consensus - the heavy lifting is engaging with people.   Naval Point - Te Nukutai o Tapoa is an important marine and recreational asset for Whakaraupō/Lyttelton Harbour and the region. The site is a high-use area, our region’s only 24/7 boat launching facility, with flat and publicly accessible land, a rare find in Lyttelton!   Public engagement had raised a number of concerns over the condition of the 9.2-hectare site and its facilities.   While the redevelopment of Naval Point will continue to evolve into the future, the process of working alongside the community was enormously revealing, enjoyable, and, on occasion, challenging.   Out of this effort emerged a shared vision for Naval Point - Te Nukutai o Tapoa to become a legacy for future generations, a testament to all the people who regularly turned up, contributed, and added their perspectives, insights and wisdom.   To find more about the project, follow the link: https://lnkd.in/g2yjVw3u (Photo source: Parklife Contractors - Cameron Rennie). #NavalPointDevelopment #CommunityEngagement #MasterPlanning #SustainableDevelopment #Masterplanning #Bringingpeoplealong

The excess of this seaweed has represented a loss of 11.6% of Quintana Roo’s PIB – around 41 billion Mexican pesos (~2 mld Euro). The Kingdom of the Netherlands has a long tradition in coastal management and marine engineering. With countries in the Kingdom that are being affected by sargassum, such as Curaçao and Sint Maarten, we have developed a strong knowledge foundation.
