It’s almost game time. After a year of planning, it’s no easy task to organize a charity #pickleball tournament. Having it as a second year and a second iteration, there has been an explosion of both indoor commercial venues and tournaments. This true in #Chicagoland, #Naperville and #DuPage county. I’ve learned a lot, I’ll definitely share those key learnings in another post. Like a solo entrepreneur, be ready to be and do: 1) Ideate tournament format 2) Financially analyze major costs vs revenue, what’s the economically viable price price point of the commodity am selling, with a charitable contribution 3) Market market market! How do I make my event viral? 4) Corporate sponsorship solicitations. This is the part I most hate. How do I influence others to see my generosity vision? Short of panhandling in the middle of a street intersection, how do I influence others to sponsor my event, while providing ad opportunities? 5) Engage and solicit volunteers to help with scoring and run the tournament 6) More importantly, communicate with the main 501.c3 beneficiary what I’m trying to achieve. I know tomorrow’s charity pickleball tournament and resulting monies raised is a drop in the bucket, in relation to the $1.17M needed to complete the Interim Housing Center kitchen project in Downers Grove, DuPage Pads. I can rest easy that we’ve done something good and be part of the #homelessness solution.

How are you using your speaking engagements to make a bigger impact!? 🤔 Last week I had the chance to speak to a networking group for my friend Jen Gaudet I brought my good friends Sam Torres Sr. and Sammy Torres Jr. from BaseballFace Cares, Inc. to help me create an impactful experience for the guests! ⚾️🫶🏻 After I did my talk, I brought up these 2 incredible humans to share about the impact they are making on youth sports around the world! But this is where it gets fun... And where the value of this post is ✅ This is how you can use your talks to start making a bigger impact I told everyone in that room that whoever made a $500 donation to their charity would get a free consultation with me! Id give them some generic ideas of how they could grow their business by adding an impact initiative to it! → I call this my "Consultation By Donation" method. I love supporting people who are committed to making an impact and if you are willing to support my charity, I am willing to give you my time! 💰 We ended up raising over $2,000 that night to help provide more sporting equipment for kids in Venezuela that needed new bats, baseballs, and gloves! It cost me nothing and I delivered a powerful keynote, created some hot leads, and made a massive impact on the charity! Thats a win-win-win ✅ ✅ ✅ Where can you take something you are already doing, but now create more impact with it!?

On February 22, 2025, I’ll be heading down to Boston to suit up with Team Salesforce for an epic charity hockey game against the Boston Bruins Alumni. As a lifelong Leafs fan (and Bruins hater 🏒💔), this is my chance to finally confront the team that has crushed my playoff dreams far too many times. Im on a mission to raise $10,000 this year by doing 'Consultations By Donations' 🎉🫶🏻 What is that you might ask? Well I love consulting people on how they can add an element of giving to their business, but I hate charging for some quick but powerful advice 🙅 👉 So I started offering to do quick consultations for $100-$500 donations to charity depending on how long someone wanted my attention. It quickly became a Win-Win-Win for everyone involved and I fell in love with the concept. 1️⃣ The donor wins because they feel good by making a donation and get some expert advise on their business. 2️⃣ The charity wins because they get a donations. 3️⃣ I win because it holds everyone accountable to put meaning behind the call and to take it seriously while also supporting my favourite causes.
