Two months into the journey of finding my next career. Although probably obvious 🤦♂️, I thought I’d share 3 reflections. Network 🙋♀️🙋🏽♂️🙋🏾🙋♀️💁🏾♀️🧑🦰👨🦰 - So many good people offering advice which has helped me focus into what type of role would suit my skills , experience and passions. Use the power of combinations within your network and make time to cultivate and tend to it. Drift nets to fishing rods 🎣- Cast your net across multiple sectors to find what interests you. From tech to energy, try and gain an understanding of what they entail and where your chosen role would sit. This will help you put the drift net away and target with your fishing rod. Dealing with rejection 🥴 - Try not to take it personally. Try and look at the why - CV not fitted the key words, incomplete cover letter etc. This will help you develop and become more proficient. However, sometimes there was just a better person….or you just weren’t suited to the role- move on 💪🏻💪🏻. Lots to talk about here - look forward to seeing some comments 😎⬇️
Good insight! Please contact John Stephenson - Forces Transition he will help you flourish into the civilian sector like you did in the military. All the best Patto 💎

Just remember Dean once you are in any role the opportunities grow, organisations will see your strengths and worth. You will develop and land that role you want. Start small, think big, you will get there.
Great reflections Dean Morgan much wisdom there particularly on dealing with rejection. That happened to me so many times! I would add the question: “what do you want your life to look like?” Answering that will unlock so much. Happy to chat any time.
My old mate. If you need anything from me at all please shout. I have been supporting veterans in transition from I got out over 10 years ago now. Just DM me for my number. Qs Ferg

Keep persevering Dean. You've fantastic transferable skills that will be an asset to any employer!!
Great advice Dean Morgan
I reflect on rejection much like I did when choosing a Regiment at RMAS. Not ‘fitting in’ with a particular cap badge isn’t a reflection on either party. As you say, sometimes the fit isn’t right. It didn’t mean I didn’t have value, or that I wasn’t good enough, just that there was somewhere else I was supposed to be. As an Adjt, I used to offer similar advice to cadets that visited us. I am a month behind you. Grateful for wisdom and advice as you cross no man’s land…
Chief Operating Officer at Vigilance.
