EU strengthen awareness on the importance of Water Resilience 🌊 ‘Towards a Water-Resilient Europe’ is the theme of the EU Green Week 2024, and Water Valley Denmark was invited in the roundtable at the EuroTech Conference ‘Closing the loop: Building resilient water systems in the context of climate change’ in Brussels on 4 June 2024. The organizer, EuroTech Universities Alliance, is a coalition of leading technological universities in Europe. Irina Pavlova from UNESCO presented initially updated key figures on water. Globally, the demand on fresh water increases by 1 % annually, and ¼ of the World population face extreme water stress. 50 % of jobs globally are directly or indirectly dependent on access to clean water.  In the roundtable, Bertrand Vallet from the EU Commission underlined the increased focus on dealing with the global water challenges in the EU Commission. There were also valuable inputs from Eran Friedler, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and Daphne Gondhalekar, Technical University of Munich. Claus Homann from Aarhus Vand explained about the newest technological solutions to reduce water leakage and other sustainable solutions, while Jesper Borg Christensen from Water Valley Denmark presented the open innovation approach in Denmark between companies, utilities and universities, and invited to cooperation on developing a European innovation ecosystem on water in the framework of a Knowledge and Innovation Community. He contrasted the approaches of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union (EU), highlighting the significant uncertainties facing the journey to net-zero emissions. NEW | "Decarbonizing industrial hubs and clusters: Towards an integrated framework of green industrial policies" by Soyoung Oh and Mohammed Al-Juaied The case studies in the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands highlight the importance of carbon pricing mechanisms to crowd in private investments, providing strong signals for structural change to different stakeholders across the value chain. As industrial decarbonization faces unique challenges due to its complex value chain and the need for supportive infrastructure, government support for the infrastructure is essential to complement the private sector's efforts in the early stages. A well-designed mix of demand-pull and supply-push policy instruments is crucial for achieving industrial decarbonization, taking into account each country's existing domestic assets, financial capacity, and geography. Last chance to register for the European Water Tech Accelerator’s Green Week Partner Event workshop “How to build a Water Positive Economy?”. It will be held this coming Thursday 30 May online from 2pm to 4.30pm CET. The Green Week is the annual European Commission’s Directorate General for Environment event to raise awareness and discuss environmental policies. This year’s theme is “Towards a Water Resilient Europe”. Our event will focus on how to build a Water Positive Economy in Europe, and more specifically, how to develop, apply and deploy water tech to reach water resilience, whilst ensuring economic growth, driving profitability and creating jobs. We would like to discuss how the innovative water tech ecosystem can be a driver for the economy, though deploying them to a scale that is significant enough to: -       Become a key sector for driving the European economy -       Become attractive enough to the industry and the engineering sector, to consider the innovations as an investment rather than as a cost. The key expected outcome of the workshop: at the end of the workshop, 10 recommendations aiming at facilitating the deployment of innovations in Europe will have been drafted. I attended the conference on 1.5C Global Environment, in which different panels including international speakers from "Norway", "Australia" and "Spain" as well as Director Solar energy Sindh and director environment were discussing on various ideas like 1. " Environmental degradation, importance and solution priority, urgency." 2. "Loss and damage by environmental degradation." 3. "Youth envollment in environmental sustainability." 4. "How to change the mind set of people regarding environmental sustainability by choosing the sustainable options." 5. "Advocacy for environmental sustainability." 6. "Source of ash and it's importance in the environmental sustainability." 7. "What is hydrogen technology and it's importance for environmental sustainability." 8."Innovation areas for environmental sustainabilit." 9. "Role of batteries in environmental sustainability." 10. "Which types of batteries can be beneficial for the environmental sustainability." 11. "Carbon footprint, it's importance in the environmental sustainability."

The 20th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water, and Environment Systems (SDEWES-2025) is dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge on methods, policies, and technologies for increasing the sustainability of development by decoupling growth from the use of natural resources and by a transition to a knowledge-based economy.
