Treating WEEE 19 12 11 (part one.) Do you know what the waste code 19 12 11 refers to? It's a waste code that covers a multitude of shredded hazardous wastes. When applied to WEEE (waste electricals), it refers to a magnetic smorgasbord of Steels, Aluminium, Copper, motherboards and plastics that are notoriously hard to separate into their usable parts. Sadly, a lot of this ends up in landfill. At Zixtel Ltd, we've spent three years developing a process to separate this waste with the end goal of recovering the majority of resources so they can be sent back into manufacturing. Our process has been successful in recovering the plastics, which can now go straight for testing, with the vast majority of non-PoPs (fire retardant) plastics made available for reuse. We also recover the metals and boards as separate fractions. In part two, we'll delve into more detail about our process for recovering the metals and boards. If in the meantime you'd like to discuss how we can help your own sustainability journey then please feel free to contact me. #WEEE #recycling #manufacturing #hazardouswaste #zerowaste
