Turning an individual, how do you turn them? Where you hold the sheet is key and vital. You have not got as much control of the sheet if you hold it too far away. (Such as in the picture). There are several ways to turn someone over using the sheet to create an even pressure across the body is one technique. It can be kinder for the individual who is in pain around the pelvis or hips. As opposed to pushing directly on the hips.
Thanks for sharing Deborah, very interesting. I find the below videos helpful when talking to clients. https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-UKSToilJkDgSBxo5oPEbvxrpm3-kq2j
I always turn using the TurnAid. Smooth and steady turn every time 😊

9moGreat post. May I share it to our FB page, please Deborah Harrison? It's surprising at just how many are unable (and refuse) to grasp this concept. At times of my wife having urosepsis it obviously reduced her physical strength and mental understanding. I swear by this method. It's FAR kinder than pushing solely on the hips. It also helps by placing one leg in a recovery-type position. I've lost count of the frowns and scornful looks I've received when asking hospital staff to do this. It's actually gone as far as senior ward staff fabricating allegations about my 'intimidating' behaviour, and excluding me from her care. She had urosepsis more than 35 times due to untreated fistula and kidney stones., Never treated with IV antibiotics until she suffered with seizures, strokes, heart attacks and even a cardiac arrest. Basic common sense is all it takes,
