With only 34% of lower and middle-income countries’ #HIV responses financed domestically (compared to 96% of other health systems costs), more work is needed to define and drive pathways toward increased sustainable financing of HIV #prevention and #treatment by 2030.   On December 10, join PATH for a dynamic webinar that discusses diverse financing channels for sustaining the #HIV response and features case studies from countries with exciting examples of mixed financing models. We are at a critical crossroads. Ending #HIV by 2030 is within reach, but we must continue to invest in prevention and education to achieve this goal. On this World AIDS Day, let us speak up for #healthequity and collaborate to address issues that impede progress towards ending HIV/AIDS.

Legacy giants (like Cornelius) whose shoulders we all stand on today, giants of the now who are taking on the mantle and the giants to come - each and every one helping us to “take the right path,” and propelling us towards an HIV-free future. These giants are from every corner of the world and every part of the #HIV community - they are the people whose actions have resulted in amazing progress to date, who are helping us build a better tomorrow and who will bring the impossible to life – ending HIV once and for all.     At ViiV Healthcare, we stand with, partner with and listen to the brilliantly diverse and beautiful HIV community. We know we can’t end the epidemic without innovation, and we can’t innovate without the voice of the community. There was no better time for our annual Youth & Community Summit held last week in Denver, Colorado. An opportunity for us to connect with community partners across the US to re-ignite a sense of urgency in our collective effort to end the #HIV epidemic. I sat down with Princess Jauan D. to talk about the importance of involving community in everything we do. Within research and development at ViiV Healthcare, it’s so important that we understand evolving needs and continue to develop innovative options that will meet community where they are. By listening to community voices, we’ve been able to develop breakthrough options that have transformed the landscape of HIV care. From the world's first two-drug HIV treatment regimens to the introduction of long-acting medicines, we’ve been at the forefront of innovation for decades, providing people with options to meet their diverse needs. We firmly believe that with more treatment and prevention options, combined with our commitment to ending health disparities in partnership with communities across the US—we can #EndTheEpidemic. From drug development to advocacy, the communities we serve are the engine of our innovation. We must continue to listen, meet evolving needs, and support the community as they develop and implement the solutions that work best for them. Standing Strong Against the Global HIV Challenge Today, on the 1st of December as we observe World AIDS Day, we reflect on the alarming reality that 39.9 million people globally are living with HIV, with low- and middle-income countries bearing the highest burden. Despite remarkable progress, the fight against HIV/AIDS remains far from over. At Prime Pharmaceuticals, we are committed to being part of the solution. December 1 marks #WorldAIDSDay, with this year’s theme, "Take the Rights Path," emphasizing the importance of equitable access to care. Today also marks Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week, recognizing the unique challenges faced by Indigenous communities. Based on the most recent estimates from 2022, approximately 65,270 people in #Canada were living with HIV and 89% were aware of their status. To achieve the 2025 global target of 95% diagnosis, more needs to be done to reduce stigma and ensure equitable access to testing and care. The Canadian biotechnology ecosystem plays an important role in advancing therapeutics, diagnostics, and vaccines, contributing to innovation in HIV prevention and treatment. Progress depends on supporting patients, investing in research, and fostering collaboration to create meaningful solutions in #HIV care and prevention.

On this World AIDS Day, we unite under the theme “Let Communities Lead,” recognizing the vital role communities play in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Today, let’s honor those affected, remember lives lost, and commit to eradicating stigma. Together, we can promote awareness, support testing, and ensure equitable access to treatment.
