For those that attended the APM PMO Interest Network Conference in the Summer "Connecting PMO with the Business - As part of the BIG Adoption" (and anyone else interested) Do you remember the room silencing question? "Do you provide, or do you know who provides support for the connection of strategy to delivery?" No-one in the room was able to put their hand up to say they knew who did this, or that they did this. Here is a version of the presentation on YouTube - in case you are curious. https://lnkd.in/dxex6uW6 Who us going to fill the gap I wonder? Try these events to get you thinking more... Thankyou for being a welcoming and engaged host APM PMO Conference! What was interesting to hear was the opportunity there is to step into the space to connect strategy to delivery. When I asked who in your organisations supports the space between strategy and delivery - and whether you know who supports this space in your organisations - no one was able to put their hand up - which possibly means folks don't know, were unwilling to put their hand up, or - there is no support function to make that connection. Wow. What do people think about that? After our session on Tuesday about Driving Purpose Driven Organisations - this is interesting.... https://lnkd.in/ddq-DM7e If we are to drive a purpose driven organisation - we need to address this... See our write up on the session here - Connecting your PMO with the Business https://lnkd.in/eCnqpqft (well - it is an advert for the session today - this will become a write up tomorrow) Deepteam Business Integrated Governance CIC

PMOs fail because PMO Leaders focus on the wrong things: - tight governance - complicated processes - saying "no" to incoming requests - building the PMO either in silo or with just the PMO sponsor - not being clear about the "what, why, how, when" of their PMO Instead, they can turn things around by: - being flexible with the governance early on - creating user-friendly processes, even if they aren't optimal - saying "not now" to incoming requests (give them options) - building the PMO "with them, for them" (them = several stakeholders) - having a definitive PMO roadmap ~~~ 💬 What would you add to the list? ♻️ Reshare if these are helpful 📑 Setting up a PMO? Connecting Project & Strategy Management through Integrated Governance - Knowledge session - links, analysis and conclusions On the 14th November, the APM Governance Interest Network hosted the second in a series of events aimed at emboldening PMO / P3 Professionals to step into the gap between strategy and delivery. I was delighted to recap Event 1 where we established the gap between strategy and delivery, and positioned Business Integrated Governance as the basis for answers. We covered the key concepts, principles and components to build an operation that connects from purpose to vision to strategy and delivery - and back again, and signposted the BIG Body of Knowledge Report here: https://lnkd.in/e5AcpiYk We took lots of questions - which I've shared for the 230 attendees and our wider community. Please see the summary below. Having established the strategy delivery gap, and positioned BIG to help fill it, the next sessions will provide attendees with the ability to get onto the executive agenda. (but it is only an hour!). More here: https://lnkd.in/e7BBdBz8 If you would like to address gaps and capability in strategy delivery - be our guest to jump on the BIG bus. It explains why, what and how. All you have to do is to put the brave pants on... Information - https://lnkd.in/eSsFEb59 Help to start "something" - https://lnkd.in/e6yRwn6N

The 2024 PMO Conference agenda is full of excellent sessions to help you develop your PMO skills and to help improve the performance of your PMO. Last year we were joined by Caoimhe Murphy who discussed PMO as a Service, why it exists and how it is done. You can see a clip of that session below and view last years agenda here: https://lnkd.in/duTgjnmb #pmoconf
