Amidst the fervor of the Lok Sabha election results, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released NEET UG results on June 4, ten days ahead of schedule. This year saw a 12.63% increase in student participation from the previous year, but the cutoff increase was manifold. A total of 67 students scored a perfect 720/720, an unusual spike, with eight from a single Haryana center, raising doubts about potential paper leaks. Historically, no more than three students achieve full marks, making this year’s results highly suspicious. Students scoring 718 and 719 also sparked controversy as these scores do not align with the NEET marking scheme. The NTA stated that grace marks were awarded to 1,563 students, but no clear marking scheme was presented. The NTA’s failure to address these concerns has left students, guardians, and educators in distress. The life-changing impact of these scores on students' futures is significant, determining their admission to top institutes like AIIMS Delhi.
