For those wondering why I feel the #callcenter / #bpo industry's days are numbered, it's simply this. As Deepgram reminds us, "Traditional call centers face issues that impact customer experience, including long wait times, frustrated customers, employee burnout, inconsistent service quality, repetitive information requests, limited hours, and difficulty handling sudden call volume increases." To this I would add they face ever-increasing costs as a result of having to rely on human infrastructure. "Hybrid" approaches, in my view, ultimately fail to be cost effective, especially since higher skill rapidly entails higher labour costs. Deepgram's technology, incidentally, is something I use daily in building autonomous voice AI agents, as part of Retell AI's comprehensive platform (which happens to be our main go-to at JGRobo Marketing, Inc.) I can confidently state that these technologies not only inherently resolve literally all of these issues with traditional callcenters, but also entail the opposite price trajectory. At JGRobo, we’re already delivering these solutions today, typically achieving upwards of 70% cost savings compared to traditional BPO models. In short, the trajectory is clear: as voice AI technologies advance, they are not just supplementing traditional call centers -- they are empowering us to make them obsolete.
