I suggest working in Ryan's team. Very beautiful person to work with and also very able team at Meta backed by serious focus and resources. Meta is offering more than a million USD for the position, and anyone with systems knowledge also knows they will add hundreds of millions of value at this position, so very fair compensation. Ideal IC imo would be good in multiple languages, including C, Rust and hopefully fast evolving Zig. Also, knowledge of specific GPU and if needed programming models like CUDA. However, imo it is best to stick to basics as most work is understanding of fundamental concepts alongwith good DSA (many in my network post that DSA is not useful, it is for such opportunity as you can really bring massive improvement here). While the JD says C++, Java or C# experience, imo it is not needed as most languages converge and Rust and Zig are rather new paradigms where writing scalable architecture for distributed ML system is a breeze compared to those mentioned (please don't spank on me if you hold a different opinion). If you have recently designed an OS (especially with off the beaten path architectures like maybe using micro kernels) , written some good quality OS exploits showing deep knowledge of file systems and understanding of how to spoof for performance (spoofing for performance is pretty advanced technique and that should get you in) or some other interesting project that is very interesting as well as breaking the norm at the same time, hit me up and I might as well recommend you. Sharing to enhance visibility for so many good developers in my network and hopefully someone gets it.
My team at Meta is hiring a Senior Staff Eng (IC7) to work on GPU scaling for LLM-scale recommendations models. You’d play a critical role in building ML infrastructure to support a new scaling law for large-scale recommendation (see our paper here: https://lnkd.in/g2S8AFQS). Some details: • Pay: Competitive for the level • Location: Sunnyvale, CA or Bellevue, WA • Role: Systems or ML Generalist • Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner • On-site gym & laundry • Free shuttles to work • $2000/yr wellness benefit Reposts appreciated. If you’re interested, you can apply directly here: https://lnkd.in/g4572V8v Compensation is controlled by a variety of factors so I don't have exacts, but it’s competitive for the IC7 level. Attached is levels.fyi’s numbers for a competitor.

We are not hiring! 🔃 When we re-engineered Bytsolv, and started hiring, our priority was to hire people with 1. Good at engineering 2. Mature decisions 3. Respecting the leadership and team-play 4. Affordable for us 5. Sense of responsibility 6. Attention to detail 7. Ethical integrity 8. Adaptability Mostly, if the first 4 is really good, the rest 4 can follow very quickly. These are exactly the same reason why we haven't hired any recent graduates these days. It's hard to find (at-least for me) someone who has at least the first 3 who just came out of college. A person who have worked on his side-projects, communicated with real customers, engaged in team engineering whilst at college, these are crackable. I think I am lost in a place where people talk about work place, balance, mental health, toxic culture (which is definitely necessary 💯) but not about ✅ work ethic, ✅ responsibility, ✅ adaptability and ✅ respect. Is it only me trying to figure out this? Anyone wanna vent with me? 😅
