International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer – September 16 Protecting Our Sky, Securing Our Future On September 16, the world unites to observe the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking action to protect the Earth's ozone layer. The ozone layer plays a crucial role in shielding life on Earth from the harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation of the sun. Why the Ozone Layer Matters: The ozone layer acts as Earth’s natural sunscreen, absorbing most of the sun’s harmful UV rays. Without it, human health, ecosystems, and wildlife would face severe risks, including increased skin cancer, cataracts, and damage to marine ecosystems. The Montreal Protocol: A Success Story The Montreal Protocol, signed in 1987, is a landmark international agreement aimed at phasing out the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances (ODS). Thanks to global cooperation, the ozone layer is on a path to recovery, projected to heal by the middle of this century. What Can You Do? Limit the use of harmful chemicals: Avoid products containing ODS, such as certain refrigerants and aerosols. Support clean technologies: Advocate for sustainable practices in industries that promote environmental health. Raise awareness: Educate others about the importance of ozone protection and its link to combating climate change. On this day, let's celebrate the progress made while recommitting ourselves to protecting our planet for future generations. Together, we can continue healing the ozone layer and safeguarding the environment. #OzoneDay #SaveTheOzone #EnvironmentMatters #IRAJ

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience.” Humanity depends on land. Yet, all over the world, a toxic cocktail of pollution, climate chaos, and biodiversity decimation are turning healthy lands into deserts, and thriving ecosystems into dead zones. On #WorldEnvironmentDay 2024, HALYARD* celebrates its commitment to environmental stewardship with practices focused on waste reduction, carbon footprint management, and increased #renewable energy usage. Our manufacturing sites routinely maintain recycling rates approaching 95%. https://lnkd.in/gURQhF5M Owens & Minor #Sustainability #EthicalBusiness #ESGFramework #GenerationRestoration

“When water is scarce or polluted, or when people struggle for access, tensions can rise. By cooperating on water, we can balance everyone’s water needs and help to stabilize the world.” This is one of the key messages of United Nations #WorldWaterDay. This year's theme is "Water for Peace": #water is a precious resource, at risk in many areas of the world, which can become a source of conflict. Or, conversely, of #collaboration and unity. However, be aware that the problem does not concern only freshwater. Marine #pollution is an urgent threat, compromising not only the health of marine ecosystems but also the availability of safe water for coastal communities. With the MAELSTROM project, we aim to contribute to this challenge. By removing litter from rivers and oceans, we hope that water can become a cleaner source of life for ecosystems and communities!
