Time flies in AI research. Not long ago, I was at BIASlab laying the groundwork for rxinfer.ml. Now, at the helm of Lazy Dynamics, we're using that foundation to tackle decision-making under uncertainty. The knowledge we gained with RxInfer continues to shape our work at Lazy Dynamics. Recently, I caught up with my former colleagues at BIASlab, and it's exciting to see RxInfer being applied in areas like adaptive hearing aids, quadruped robots that learn on the fly, and their ambitious "Bayes Brain" project—combining logic with uncertainty to model complex reasoning. At Lazy Dynamics, we've shifted to a more focused approach, translating our insights into practical tools rather than fundamental research, which still remains the main activity of BIASlab. Scaling inference remains a significant challenge, but I think RxInfer.jl has real potential to address it. The real world doesn't operate on neat pre-determined schedules—AI systems need to adapt continuously, and that's what RxInfer is designed to handle. It's great to see how BIASlab, along with collaborators like the Active Inference Institute, are advancing the project. The recent addition of a Julia community superstar to help improve RxInfer is particularly thrilling—I can't wait to see where this takes the project. As we continue to bridge research and real-world applications, I'm more convinced that adaptive, reactive systems will play a key role in AI's future.
