✅ Fact: In 2023 - 8.2 million learners across the U.S. wanted internships. But only 2.6 million quality internship experiences were available. Meaning more than half of learners who wanted to intern completely missed out. According to the report, students of color, first-gen students, community college students, and financially vulnerable students had the worst odds for securing an internship. It’s probably not surprising that undergrads and grads who finish a paid internship earn higher-paying jobs after graduation. However, less than 20% of students complete an internship during college. Check out the “Building Better Internships” report from Strada which dives into barriers to getting internships and how to improve the internship experience. #careersuccess #careerdevelopment #careershift #internships

An intriguing debate sparked online when a Tier-1 college student declined a ₹10,000 monthly internship, questioning the value of low pay. Founder Vinayak Sarawagi defended it, emphasizing limited funding and flexibility for an open-source project. This raises an important question: Are interns prioritizing short-term stipends over long-term skills? In today’s competitive world, real growth often comes from learning and hands-on experience rather than just chasing a paycheck. A stipend might be temporary, but the skills and networks you gain can shape your career trajectory forever. What do you think—should experience outweigh the paycheck during internships? #Internships #SkillsOverStipends #CareerGrowth #LearningOpportunities"

I've seen a lot of conversations here recently about #unpaidinternships and the uncertain future of #highered. What if colleges started limiting their enrollment per major to the number of paid internships they can secure for their students? Internships are often paid because they help the employer solve a problem...providing #emergingtalent to fill vital roles. The availability of paid internships is an important signal of future employment opportunity. Limiting the number of enrollments per major might direct more students to pathways with a greater potential for successful employment. It's hard work to help students understand how their natural talent and interests translate to marketable skills, but it's work worth doing. It's a problem that could and should be addressed long before the student seeks an internship.

If you are a college dean / professor and your college don't allow your students to do winter internships, you are literally denying them a lot of opportunities. Over the last few months, I've known a lot of students who had the offers for winter internships but the college didn't give any permission to accept the offer, which is quite sad. Please think more about existing rules in your college. If adjusted properly, they have the potential to change the lives of students. Thank you! #softwareengineering #internship #offcampus #collegetips #interviewtips #job #dsa #placements

I took our college intern to the Braves Game! ⚾ An internship can be a fun experience, but besides that, how can a student benefit? ● Experience: As annoying as this can seem, new college graduates have to overcome the barrier of "experience" - something not always addressed through education alone. Internships add to students' real-world application abilities. ● Professional Network: An internship can help students expand their professional networks and connect with (sometimes lifelong) career mentors. ● Career Discovery: Internships are a great opportunity to learn if the career path students think they want is the one they truly want in the long term. And, they can help expose interests students didn't know they had. If your child has the opportunity to apply for summer internships, encourage them to as often as they can. They benefit students greatly. #summerintern #internship #collegeintern #atlantabraves #financeintern

Internships offer high school students more than just work experience—they provide an essential foundation for future academic and career success. They help students explore potential career paths early, gain transferable skills like teamwork and time management, and develop a clearer sense of direction before committing to a college major. We believe that Internships play a critical role in making college applications stand out. Admissions officers value students who show initiative and curiosity through real-world experiences. Additionally, internships open doors to scholarships, mentorship opportunities, and professional networks that can shape future opportunities. As summer begins, so do summer jobs for many young people and #college students. I was struck by some of the findings in the most recent report from Strada Education Foundation about #internships. "Building Better Internships" looks at data from the National Survey of College Internships which is administered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Some key findings: 💡 Nearly every student participating in an #internship -- 96% -- sought a way to connect education with career opportunities, either to gain relevant experience in a career or explore a potential career. 😁 Nearly 75% of students are extremely or very satisfied with their internship, which is tied to supervisor support and mentoring, career development value and opportunities to develop #durableskills. ⏰ Most students who did not participate in an internship reported they wanted to, but faced a lack of time due to heavy course loads or other jobs. Take a look at the full report -- and recommendations. What findings struck you? Do the recommendations align with opportunities in your state, or with your institution? Tell me more! https://lnkd.in/gNM6zFqv #workbasedlearning #internships #workexperience #highered #workforcedevelopment #job
