Construction to begin in Q4 2025 👌 Sligo County Council Sligo Chamber of Commerce 📝Eastern Garvogue Bridge and Approach Roads. The Eastern Garvogue Bridge and Approach Road Scheme is of strategic importance to the development of Sligo and in linking communities and facilitating development within Sligo City especially the east ward of the city. The scheme has been developed as a traffic calmed urban distributor road consisting of a 2-way single carriageway, a dedicated 2-way cycle way with footpaths on either side. Development of the Scheme will promote the development of the Sligo Urban Area as a compact urban city with a strong urban core, will discourage urban sprawl, will reduce travel times within the city and therefore will encourage active travel forms of transport. The Eastern Garvogue Bridge and Approach Roads Project is listed for construction in the National Development Plan 2018 to 2027. Progress to Date: • Consultation with all relevant Stakeholders. • Public consultations held. • Planning permission granted for scheme by An Bord Pleanála. • Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) confirmed by An Bord Pleanála. • Notices to Treat issued to affected land and property owners. • Valuer appointed by Sligo County Council. • Detailed design public consultation held. • Submissions analysed and design amendments carried out. • Amended details and model prepared and put on public display. • Site testing, Site Clearance and archaeological investigations completed. Current Status: Engineering Consultants have been appointed to assist in completing the Detailed Design and construction of the Project. Detailed design of the scheme is been progressed and is expected to be completed by Q4 2024. The Scheme will then progress to Phases 5 -Preparation of Tenders documentation to go to Construction. This is planned to start in Q4 2024 and should be completed by Q2 2025. Consultation is ongoing with Landowners affected by the CPO to agree accommodation works and agree compensation. Advanced works scoping is been carried out to determine if there is a requirement for appropriate additional surveys, investigations or advance works. It is expected that Phase 6 Construction of the Scheme will start in Q4 2025. https://lnkd.in/eFWm3UUi

My side project of mapping sunken ships from the Second World War is a useful resource for locating many of these wrecks.
Great to have our work at the Major Projects Foundation highlighted by the ABC here in Australia. https://lnkd.in/gAVTwrfm
These rusting shipwrecks are a big drawcard for divers. They're also ticking time bombs

An excellent summary from Newsroom's David Williams of the recent SailGP saga. This will go down as a masterclass in how not to undertake public relations. It's a surefire way to lose friends and not influence people, which is problematic when operating in such a stakeholder-rich environment. Coutts' statement (which you can read here: https://lnkd.in/gZqnWCVn) is an extraordinary outburst which essentially calls a dolphin expert a liar, throws the Harbourmaster under the bus and takes a shot at the Iwi. But arguably, the most extraordinary part is his failure to take any ownership of what occurred and how they got there. Business leaders need to do better than this, and I suggest SailGP get better PR advice.
