At CIGRE 2024, Nina Fuchs from Siemens presented the power of virtualized power automation with their SICAM 8 product family. By integrating real substations with digital twins, Siemens is pushing the boundaries of automation and testing efficiency. The SICAM software can be fully virtualized, allowing for closed-loop test setups that accelerate pre-deployment testing and the rollout of software updates. This approach addresses the growing need for faster grid enforcement and renewable energy integration. Siemens is also exploring automated test case development, paving the way for even more streamlined processes. 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝘄𝗼. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲! Since I started at ComAp, we’ve debated whether to have 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 or just two. Initially, we concluded that two were sufficient for most of our applications. However, the massive growth of renewable power sources—decentralized sources—has changed our minds. 𝗜’𝗺 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀! 🥳🎉 This support is provided via the new plug-in module 𝗘𝗠-𝗔𝗖𝗩𝟯𝗣𝗵, which is now supported in InteliSys 2000. Currently, there is a demand to avoid blind spots in applications, as power can come e.g. from local solar panels, etc. This is primarily a safety need, but we foresee many possible applications and will focus on them. Right now, the module supports following apps: • 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘁 for monitoring or protection purposes • 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 (GCB+MCB) with voltage sensing on the mains side, generator side, and now also between breakers. Which application with three voltage sensing points do you need first? 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗦𝘆𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟬: 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲!🚀 Do you want to receive more tips and news about our controllers? Just back from IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Expo (ECCE) conference in Phoenix, AZ! The work on “A virtual Synchronous Machine Based Algorithm for Online Grid Impedance Estimation” arises from the collaboration between Prima Electro and the Politecnico di Torino Power Electronics Innovation Center. We presented an innovative algorithm to estimate the #grid #impedance in real-time, ensuring the proper control tuning of grid-tied #converters driven with #VSM algorithms. An Active Front-End (#AFE) converter unit equipped with a #VSM and the presented estimator can adequately support the grid in any operating condition, regardless of the grid stiffness and X/R ratio. Moreover, the designed estimator inherently rejects noise due to measurement disturbances, making it suitable for industrial applications, even in particularly disturbed environments. Which markets/applications can #benefit from this? #Renewable Energy, #EV Charging infrastructures, #Backup #Power #Systems, #Manufacturing & #Heavy #Industry Here you can find 👇🏻 an excerpt of what we did.
