Fundraiser’s Dinner Etiquette Tip #5: Napkin Etiquette Napkin placement may seem minor, but it’s a key part of dining etiquette! Here’s how to handle it like a pro: ➡️ Follow your host’s lead – Typically, you’ll want to place your napkin on your lap shortly after sitting, folded in half with the fold towards your waist. But if your host waits, you should too. ➡️ Keep it on your lap – Your napkin should stay on your lap throughout the entire meal. If you need to step away, place it on your chair or to the left of your plate to signal to the server that you’ll be back. ➡️ Never use your napkin to blow your nose! - Excuse yourself and blow your nose with a tissue in the restroom. ➡️ Watch for the host’s cue – When your host places their napkin on the table, it’s a sign that the meal has ended. Follow suit by placing your napkin on the table as well. Simple details like these can make a great impression. What’s one dining etiquette tip you always follow? Let’s hear it! 👇 #DinnerEtiquette #petrusdevelopment #fundraising #development #faithbasedfundraising #fundraisingdinner #EtiquetteTips

Nearly 150 Dallas-Fort Worth businesses will participate in DFW Restaurant Week in 2024. Reservations are open now, as of July 8, 2024. Between Aug. 1 and Sept. 1, 2024, businesses participating in DFW Restaurant Week sell a two-course lunch or brunch for $29 and a three-course dinner for $49 or $59 per person. At some, this price is lower than the typical cost-per-seat for dinner. At all seatings, DFW Restaurant Week donates about 20% of the meal to the North Texas Food Bank or Lena Pope, two Dallas-Fort Worth-based nonprofits. This event has raised about $11.7 million for both nonprofits in its nearly 30 years, according to a news release. By Sarah Blaskovich #DFWRestaurantWeek #DFWFoodie

Retain 70% of donors after 3 gifts?!?! 👀 I saw this video a while back (sorry, GaryV and language) where if you get a customer from one visit --> third, the likelihood of them returning after the 3rd visit is 70%! The same is true according to the Fundraising Effectiveness Project, 3-6 donations retain at 72%; and if you get to 7+, you are at 88% 🔥🔥 Keep at it, and enjoy the video; some ideas translate into the nonprofit space.

An interesting story of the gradual decline of a once ubiquitous roadside diner in the UK. Seemingly a lack of vision, focus on profit, missing the opportunity to adapt to changing customer desires and habits, and a reluctance to keep the restaurants appealing to customers as it cost money. In some ways, the definition of the business is key. Was Little Chef providing a relatively cheap roadside restaurant (focus on sit-down meals), or was it providing sustenance for travellers (providing food to eat-in or takeaway)? Even that small difference changes how you innovate and change. Dashboards will help you to see if you're doing things right, but sometimes you need to step back and ask if you're doing the right things to attract and retain customers and staff. For businesses, you also need products that they want at a price they are willing to pay. For charities, you need giving options that they connect with and a way to engage the donors through sharing the impact your having. Can you spot whether your business or charity is in decline? Have you been ignoring the facts? Have you looked at the bigger picture recently? Contact us if you want help to think about how your business or charity is doing. https://lnkd.in/eKHck_Qe

🎄 🥪 '12 Days of Sandwich: Day Two' 🥪🎄 🎅 It wouldn't be a Christmas sandwich review without including Pret A Manger Christmas Lunch. For many, the launch of Pret's Christmas menu marks the start of the festive culinary season, and I don't see this year as any different. 💲 A high-performer from 2023, Pret increased their price for this sandwich to £5.99 (eat in), maintaining the 50p charity donation to Pret Foundation. While I think the changes to Club Pret this year are actually great for the end-customer, it does mean I paid full price for this year 😃 , which puts it at the top-end of boxed-sandwiches. Let's see how it scores... 🦃 Turkey wasn't too dry and high quality, supported by mayo and lots of cranberry sauce - although the punch of orange and cranberry sauce was somewhat overpowering. The onions were crunchier than last year, and the stuffing well proportioned - plus using proper pork vs some over-breadcrumby supermarket offerings I've seen in 2024 👏 The spinach is a welcome balance of freshness to the meat, although the bread was slightly dry round the outside. 🧱 A well-filled sandwich, it unfortunately loses a point for almost being 'too chonky'. One half was so overfilled, it did have a few fallouts upon picking up. Overall...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! A strong and super Christmassy contender as ever - would you change anything? Great work as ever from Dominic Berko Aimee Leverett Becci Dive and the whole Pret team. Quality: 7/10 Flavour: 7/10 Structure: 6/10 Christmassyness: 9/10 📊 Overall: 7.3/10 #12daysofsandwich #sandwich #christmasreview #pret PSA: I also had this with Pret's Christmas Tiffin - which one colleague described as 'absolutely different gravy". The smell of orangey and cranberry christmassyness out of the packet, thick with chocolate, biscuit, fruit and pistachio. It's not cheap (£2) but wow; if Pret filled an advent calendar with these bars, I'd buy them all.

Many memories of eating at Little Chefs back in the day. The gradual decline seems to have been spotted too late to save it. Was there too much focus on profit and not enough focus on 'how' they were working? It looks like it was seen as a cash cow that would never decline, leading to a lack of innovation and change. What are the aspects of your business or charity that you think couldn't possibly fail? Are you sure they won't? Take some time to see if there is slow decline that you're missing. DM me if you want help to think through how your business or charity is really doing.
