"Leaders need clarity on what works to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. [McKinsey's] 2023 report shows success factors that contributed to significant, quantifiable, scalable, and sustainable DEI impact. The ambition is that equipping leaders with these best practices will help focus DEI efforts on what works best, ultimately contributing to faster, scalable progress across the global business community and surrounding ecosystems. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lighthouses 2023 Report identified five success factors common across the DEI initiatives that yielded the most significant, scalable, quantifiable, and sustained impact for underrepresented groups." I want to be more intentional with what I post and how often. At times, topics and subject matter comes to my mind and I have some words to say. 📢 PSA: Broken Leadership & Implicit Bias 📢 In the quest for progress, it's crucial to address two significant challenges: broken leadership and implicit bias. 🚫💼 1️⃣ Broken Leadership: When leaders fail to listen, empathize, and act inclusively, it fractures trust and hampers growth. Let's demand accountability and cultivate leaders who champion diversity, equity, and inclusion at every level. 🌟 2️⃣ Implicit Bias: We all carry biases, often unconscious, that influence our perceptions and decisions. By acknowledging and actively challenging these biases, we pave the way for fairer outcomes and stronger communities. 🤝💬 How can we get in front of it? 👇 - Education: Continuously learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion to foster understanding and empathy. 📚 - Dialogue: Engage in open conversations to uncover biases and promote mutual respect. 🗣️ - Action: Advocate for policies and practices that promote fairness and dismantle systemic barriers. ✊ Together, let's strive for leadership that empowers, and a world free from the limitations of bias. 💪 #Leadership #ImplicitBias #InclusionMatters

Why Diversity matter? Why leaders must encourage diversity at all levels? Here is why: "Companies with diverse leadership teams consistently outperform their peers. McKinsey’s extensive research—across 1,265 companies in 23 countries—reveals that gender-diverse executive teams have a 39% greater likelihood of financial outperformance. But it doesn’t end there; ethnic diversity matters, too. Companies in the top quartile of ethnic representation also enjoy a similar likelihood of outperformance." Be diverse, it helps fuel growth!

Very Excited to Share that I'm continuing my research into Adult Learning and Leadership Principles at HarvardedX. Very excited to dig in and learn more about effective communication within leadership! And can't wait to share some findings from my research. As a part of my initial studies, I wrote an OpEd about the disparities of Black women in corporate America. The findings did not surprise me but definitely gave me pause. I looked into equity of pay- black women make only about 63% of what their white male colleagues make (in very similar roles). Another finding suggests that while black women are one of the most educated groups of their peers they still remain under- titled and under promoted. I definitely agree that its time for companies to check their current practices or at the least leaders should be getting some dialogue going in the board rooms. I may one day share a portion of the editorial. For now I'll just be happy if a few folks are inspired to take a deeper look at these trends within their organizations.

In today’s world, politics and business are intertwined. Here are key strategies for navigating this intersection: 😐 Embrace CSR: Companies are judged on their social impact. Aligning with social and political causes builds trust. 😐 Foster Diversity: Encouraging diverse views fosters innovation and resilience. 😐 Communicate Transparently: Honest communication during political upheavals enhances trust. 😐 Practice Ethical Leadership: Leaders must prioritize integrity and accountability. 😐 Advocate Thoughtfully: Influence policy in ways that align with company values. Balancing politics with business objectives is challenging but essential. How does your company handle it? During our MLAB experience, participants review their top strengths and are encouraged to write a paragraph about who they are as a leader. After that, they work to synthesize it even further to fill in the blank, “I’m a leader who __________” It’s such a powerful exercise as we find confidence and clarity about what we bring to the table. In this picture from the The Right Place, Inc.'s Go Beyond Event, over 50 women shared their sentiments. Here are a few that stood out: I’m a leader who: -Protects other’s ability to speak freely without judgment -Creates space for others to try, fail learn and grow -Loves to connect, build relationships and meet people where they are If you know your strengths, pull them out and try completing this sentence. Let it ground you and motivate you to live into your fullness this week and bring that goodness to every interaction. Don’t know your strengths yet? Let’s change that. Join us for Strengths-Based Leadership next month. Registration is closing soon! https://lnkd.in/eXhJWBvD

Diversity of thought is a common concern among corporate leadership, and for a good reason. It enhances problem-solving skills and increases creative thinking. However, a lack of it can lead to bad decision making like "Groupthink". This occurs when a person with a powerful personality leads a group and is not open to different ideas. It can also happen when team members are too afraid to voice their opinions. Leaders that are open and give voice & support to others are more likely to avoid groupthink's toxicity and negative ramifications. Teams that are designed to have varying opinions and beliefs must also have mutual respect for each other. Let's work together to create a culture of diversity and inclusion that fosters creativity and innovation in the workplace. #DiversityandInclusion #Innovation #Leadership Dr. Chez F. “To address biases inherent in leadership selection and succession planning, organizations adopted a paradigm of meritocracy as the basis for internal promotion. Yet, this ideal falters in the face of deeply ingrained unconscious biases. Leaders inadvertently prioritize merit in those who resemble themselves..”. Where assessment of merit is subjective, it is a door open for bias. A good article on one of the big people issues of our time – how to change systemic inequality when discrimination is not deliberate. https://lnkd.in/g4fU7AHT Article is from CEOWorld Magazine

We need more women leaders! This isn't just my opinion; it's a fact supported by extensive research: According to a 2023 study by the American Psychological Association, women leaders significantly increase productivity, enhance collaboration, and improve organizational fairness. Female leaders often demonstrate a more transformational leadership style, which is increasingly valued in modern organizations. Teams with women in leadership roles show improved collaboration and innovation. As Dr. Jean Lau Chin stated in her 2016 TEDx talk, "Getting a seat at the table is not enough. It's time for women and diverse leaders to be at the head of the table in leadership roles if we are going to have a future moving forward." There are a number of reasons why this issue persists. Although things have improved, there is still a long way to go. Women often feel invisible at work – and sometimes even at home. That may lead to a lack of confidence which causes them to recede even further into the background. The good news is that this does not have to define you. You can improve your situation, increase your opportunities and build your confidence in the process. You have more power in this process than you may think. Are you ready to start making a change? Are you ready to take the roles that you deserve? DM me and let’s talk about how we can work on this together.
