As a member of the African Arbitration Association Young Members Group, I had the privilege of collaborating with remarkable young arbitration practitioners on this memoir: "What I should have known and What I think you should know now: Memoirs of a Young Arbitration Practitioner." It contains valuable insights, and I encourage young lawyers to read it. The experiences shared might be incredibly helpful in guiding you through your current career path. OUT NOW: ‘What I should have known and what I think you should know: Memoirs of a Young Arbitration Practitioner. Through the African Arbitration Association Young Members Group I recently had a sit down with some of the exceptional and trail blazing young arbitration practitioners from across the African continent, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America and together we have produced this memoir. The memoir is for the young arbitration practitioner, it shares personal experiences, tips, recommendations and overall guidance. It is intended to make the arbitration journey of the young arbitration practitioner that much more pleasant and smooth. The African Arbitration Association Young Members Group remains resolute in its commitment to the development of the young arbitration practitioners on the African continent and beyond, and if there’s one thing I will recommend to the young arbitration practitioners today, it is to immediately join the African Arbitration Association Young Members Group. I promise you, you will not regret it! #YMGAfAA. #YoungArbitrationPractitioners. #Arbitration. #Memoir. 📝 Dubai Arbitration Week took place from 11 – 15 November 2024, with the city using the opportunity to promote changes in arbitration and itself as an attractive option for a party's seat of arbitration. One of the most significant recent changes to arbitration in Dubai has been Decree No.34 of 2021. As is now well known, this abolished the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC) and the Dubai International Financial Centre Arbitration Institute (which partly comprised the Dubai International Financial Centre-London Court International Arbitration (DIFC-LCIA) Centre) – and consolidated these arbitration centres into one institution - the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). This article examines recent case law from the Abu Dhabi Courts, the DIFC Courts and the Singapore Courts considering the validity of DIFC-LCIA arbitration agreements, in light of the Decree. Read it in full 👇 https://gowlg.co/40YFB4G #InternationalArbitration #DIAC #DisputeResolution #MiddleEastLaw
Are DIFC-LCIA arbitration agreements valid?
