This resonated a lot. Development Trusts shouldn’t have to be stepping into the realm of housing, public transport, net zero transition, community ownership of shops, pubs and land in order to get the outcomes that their communities need - but when the public sector and private sector aren’t delivering those outcomes, who takes up the slack? The Third sector, of course. But we’re not resourced to do it and we can’t do it alone, so it’s exhausting. A new model of partnership working across the sectors is needed.

👋🏽According to a new report published by The Centre for Social Justice, 79% of UK adults agree that small, local, charities seem to be often overlooked and under-resourced. ❌Whilst the work that we do at Purple Shoots is vast and expansive, making a big impact in communities up and down the UK, we cannot continue to make a difference that matches the level of need for our services without financial backing. 📖Over the next few days, we'll be sharing stats from this report which shows the very urgent need to support small, local charities to be seen and resourced and the impact that being ignored has on the people who need our help the most. 💷To read more about the work that we do and to donate to Purple Shoots on a monthly basis, head to: https://lnkd.in/gHC4FPWe 👀You can read the report in full by heading to https://lnkd.in/eXVbSDf5

In our #SpringBudget submission we, once again, urged the government to address chronic underfunding of public service contracts and grants delivered by charities, and meet the true costs of delivering them. Yesterday’s announcement could have been a key moment to bolster the voluntary sector as a vital partner for government in the delivery of public services. Instead, we have another missed opportunity. Look beyond the headlines of #Budget2024 and read our analysis of how it will impact the voluntary sector 👉 https://lnkd.in/eFB-YAcb
