Dual-Hatting Medical Augmentation Detachment Commanders in the Field Hospital Command is a sacred trust. The Army should reconsider dual-hatting of Medical Augmentation Detachment commanders if we want to uphold that trust. Commanders must spend 100% of their energy, enthusiasm, empathy, and time ensuring they provide the discipline, leadership, and cohesion necessary to lead America’s sons and daughters across the conflict continuum. Dual-hatting is detrimental to the officer’s health. Overwhelming hours deplete our most precious resource — our people — and could result in medical errors leading to unsatisfactory health outcomes for those we are charged to save and lack of leadership when our Soldiers need it most. Therefore, the Army should bifurcate the command position, keeping an Army Nurse Corps officer in the command role and adding a staff nurse to the Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) to fulfill the patient care role. The VA did what..... I'm here today to tell you about my experience in the last few months. It should also be noted that individual experiences may differ for several reasons and I am no exception. The VA has a somewhat tarnished record for various reasons but my experience so far has been nothing but "exceptional." Today the VA has apps, text messaging and various platforms for health management but they even go further. Now you get text messaging about appointments, you get phone calls after the appointment and you also get various representatives to explain health benefits in detail. There is also the ability to call a nurse at anytime. Additionally, you also get various types of services that they call and tell you about and also, lots of physical mail about different things occurring in the VA. What I am trying to say is hands down, without a doubt, the VA is one of the best medical organizations I've experienced and the customer service is 100% better than some of the private medical institutions I had the opportunity to visit in the last couple of years. #VA #Veterans #VeteransAdministration #medicalprofessionals #military #militarymembers

The US Army is facing a challenge in maintaining information supremacy, according to a recent Inspector General's report. The report revealed that the Army is struggling to keep up with the increasing demand for Military Information Support Operations (MISO), also known as psychological operations or PSYOP. A major cause of the problem is the "divorce" between active and reserve PSYOP units. To compensate, the Army has been relying on reservists to fill the gaps, but this is not enough. The report found that the Army's four active and reserve PSYOP groups were operating at only 60% of their authorized strength in FY2023. https://lnkd.in/eFQy6YYf

As the debate goes on about PA practice laws, pros and cons, I sought to remember where it all began; as an idea from a physician based on WWII. There was a fast track training for physicians during that war and that training for post-war military medics, is the foundation of PA education. As we look to the future, we need to remember the past, and the WHY, and the HOW! The founder of PA training and practice was a PHYSICIAN. This tradition, in and of itself, should validate the team-focused training and practice of the PA.
